Please don’t remove Hunter pets

don’t see it.

It makes more sense for marksman to instead fully utilize their ranged weapon skills instead of also tacking along a pet you can barely use. If a hunter wants to effectively use a pet, the other two specs are far more suited for it. Marksman barely has any control of their pet or reason to have one instead of bloodlust or pet-tanking, and pet tanking is obsolete outside of world pve.

Trying to guilt trip them by saying it takes away entertainment too isn’t very sensical either. Hunter immersion can include having a pet but shouldn’t be limited to that. They either could fix this by removing pets from MM spec or adding more of a toolkit to their rotation, the latter doesn’t sound very necessary. I actually quit hunter to play warrior, because MM hunter sucks and the best spec by far is beast mastery, which is a braindead playstyle and one I don’t like.

That’s just my thoughts though

Make no mistake, I agree 100%, I resent M+(Look at the PCT nerf for shamans that shouldn’t have happened).

But isn’t like MM getting what they could do with a pet baked into MM itself through the eagle? Only difference is fluffy will no longer be facetanking and MM will have to put in some effort to kite. Even as someone who did Delves as Fire Mage the kiting experience wasn’t terrible and MM Hunters have a range of tools to maintain distance.

I think at this point you are just really frustrated and aren’t really even seeing what others are trying to say. Maybe it’s a good time to take a couple of hours away from the forums as a breather. But for the record I said you still could use a melee weapon. Maybe that’s not dual wielding, but I’m not an immortal banshee-queen with her own faction of undead who could probably shoot Arthus between the eyes from Kalimdor if she knew the winds.

You won’t hear me arguing :joy:

But I actually read the patch notes. Being a hunter main, I’m super exciting for the changes.

They could way back in vanilla. It was actually better to dw. But balancing problems…

Irl hunter here. Most animals, you don’t use dogs to help you hunt. You quite literally scare away whatever you are hunting.
You use dogs for birds and rodents. And as far as I am aware, most things in wow would be considered “big game”.

:point_up_2:
Caps did a great job breaking it down.
If you actually played a hunter, you’d understand these problems. It’s very apparent that you don’t and just want to argue.

Good thing there are 2 other specs that allow pets!

And the reason void walker isn’t “meta” is because it steals threat from the tank and doesn’t give you useful utility like an imp or hound. However, they still deal the same damage more or less.

Again, play these specs before you try and argue these points. You should have a basic understanding of these things before trying to make these arguments that are just false.

Hero and solo tanking.
Much utility. Such wow. So glad I lose 5% overall damage and have to deal with a pet in general.

Well duh.
They actually have a benefit.
Removing pets from warlock wouldn’t be an awful thing since they tend to play like mm. Solid defensives and utility and they pet sac anyway.

Wait Lust is channel for Hunters?

Or pet summon isn’t instant I’m thinking of?

Reading over these notes, yeah, it does look really good.

The way it works for MM to lust, is that you need to

  1. summon your pet
  2. lust
  3. dismiss pet (3 sec channel)
  4. wait for lone wolf to stack back up to 5 (takes 5 seconds)
  5. pop cooldowns 8-9 seconds into bloodlust.

It’s not. But you HAVE to have your pet out to use it.
Then waste several seconds dismissing it.

It’s also annoying as a bm hunter too. If we need hero, I can’t use my defensive spirit beast. But at least it makes more sense for bm since my pets are an integral part of playing.

Mm, they are essentially a stat stick without stats for hero usage.

weirdly, it’s effectively a stat-stick with negative stats.

True :joy:

-5% damage and wasting 10 seconds of combat just to hero.

I am honestly surprised they are going that in depth with it mm.
It’s been needing a refresh for a LONG time.

Yeah… I’d be happy not to deal with that if I was maining MM atm myself tbh. :joy:

I didn’t even know LW stack, I recall you got the full buff the moment your pet went away. I can definitely see the argument from the ppl who are happy for the changes considered that.

On my Mage all I have to do is cast Time Warp to lust, MM is just busywork looking at that.

If you haven’t looked over the patch notes. I highly recommend it.
The pet removal is actually a super tiny part of the updates.

It seems like one of the themes in TWW has to take specs/classes that can lust but situationally don’t want to, and removing those restrictions/situations (same thing happened with mage double time warp).

Oh yeah I saw.

Considering trying out MM in 11.1. Being able to have a stun without needing a pet is nice.

They also added mortal strike and hero without pets.

The only thing missing is the leech your pet gave you lol.

All the raids I am in have a mage or shaman, so I never needed the lust. I never dismiss my pet either

im sad they keep removing things. rip ice elemental to this day.
inb4 warlocks are next lol. blizz hates pets.

it’s really more of a dungeon concern than a raid concern.

Which is why it’s (finally) getting acted on, since blizzard really wants you in M+.

Let’s be honest. Those were more useless than mm pets and that’s saying something lol.

Blizz hates pointless* pets.

Notice they added on to demo and even made a hero spec for warlock revolving around unique summons.
Bm keeps getting more and more summons too. And soon bm will have a 1 pet option again.
Unholy ghouls are getting updated for the first time in ages.

So it’s not about pets. It’s about redundant things.

Then they need to leave the OPTION for MM hunters to keep their pets, rather than take away pets they had for up to 20 years.
