Yes it is. And they should preserve it. The stupid eagle is the opposite of that. Nobody wins.
I’ve offered plenty of solutions these past few days. As have others. The most obvious one being to just give hunters access to a bloodlust ability regardless of pet. The thing they’re doing with the eagle anyway!
Sure, that’s great. Play how you like. But don’t deny that End Game Content and the Meta is who Blizzard caters to. Disagree with that policy if you like. And as I’ve said in other places, I’ll even agree with you on that. But this is their game and that is how they are going to do things.
And for that content, the Pet is a hindrance, not any advantage whatsoever.
What is truly arrogant is that being dismissive of people who DO “follow a cookie cutter guide” and that they are somehow a lesser being than you.
You use the pet on mobs similarly how rogues can help perform skips, except you either dismiss or let them die depending. Masters call clears roots, which isn’t frequently needed but has some uses especially for other party members or if disengage root removal doesn’t work on it. Sure, not every hunter is using pets in M+ or raiding but it’s still an option for those that do use them.
I’m completely fine with Lone Wolf or some things being given to hunter baseline like Bloodlust so they can continue to NOT use the pet as they like but to strip the ability for the rest to use pets as they want to, where they want to because they don’t like pet use is bad to me.
Well, no. This thread is about people complaining about HOW the changes are being implemented. NOT about the fact that Blizz policy caters to Meta players. That ship is gone. There is a subtle difference. But an important one.
That is never going to fly in a Mythic that is timed. That is why NO MM uses pets in high or even middle tier Mythics. Seriously. I would suspect any MM who pulls a pet out except purely when the group calls for lust will get kicked.
The “stupid” eagle is a compromise, and I hardly see any Lone Wolf enthusiast bothered by it once they learn the “pet” isn’t a real pet following you. It’s essentially Lone Wolf with a eagle delivering occasional buffs. It’s way better than summoning a pet, casting a spell, dismissing the pet, waiting for Lone Wolf buff to stack back up.
How can you offer solutions if you don’t understand the problem?
Here’s a list of things (pulled from memory, may be more) that the update gives for MM utility, survivability and PvP:
Innate Bloodlust/Heroism
Mortal Wounds applied by Aimed Shot
Talent choice between Improved HP + Damage Reduction or Improved speed + Root clearing
Talent for Improved CD reduction of Exhilaration
Talent improvement for petless Intimidation
Talent for Petless Roar of Sacrifice
It’s a great toolkit, and a great direction.
My suggestions are all based on keeping the kit, but there’s a price:
First suggestion: a skill or talent that summons the eagle to tank a mob for a bit.
– Pros: keeps the new spec fantasy, requires skill, solves the soloing problem.
– Cons: Is not your chosen pet, it’s not as easy to manage as a tanking pet
Second suggestion: You can summon your pet, but that disables the entire pet-based toolkit (plus the new Spotter’s Mark mechanic) to avoid double-dipping.
– Pros: you get your pet and can do solo stuff at your heart’s content.
– Cons: Far worse toolkit, needs to dismiss pet for competitive play, more prone to bugs and exploits due to having to adjust the disabling of several skills and talents.
Third suggestion: You can summon a pet, you get a damage penalty and the pet comes without family and spec skills to avoid double-dipping (pet keeps taunt, charge and basic attack).
– Pros: You get your pet and can do solo stuff at your heart’s content; keeps the new spec toolkit, easier to implement than the second suggestion (you only disable pet abilities).
– Cons: It’s still a worse alternative, but good enough for solo content.
Now, if you really want discussion, you either need to weight the options or suggest something else that works with the new direction and not against it, and for that you need to understand what the new direction is. The chance of Blizzard changing direction is very slim.
(Edit: The biggest proof that this thread is not meant for discussion is that people complain and call you a troll when you give them short snarky answers. When you try to explain the reason behind the changes, list its benefits, and suggest solutions for their pet problem, however, you are just ignored at best or misconstrued at worst. People here do not want a compromise, they just want to complain.)
But you have again completely missed why they are doing the changes. Giving baseline Lust it irrelevant. All it will mean is that MM hunters will cheer that they have even less reason to pull out the pet.
It does not address the ACTUAL problem, in that LW gives us more advantage in damage than anything the pet can do. So we don’t use the Pet. Which makes it literally an appendix for high tier content. Which is why Blizz are cutting it out entirely.
No need to be so hyper-sensative dude. I never called you anything. MY complaint is that the game is designed for you, and only you. I am the one the GAME is treating like a second class citizen. Even though I would guess I pay the same amount for it.
You do, however, seem quite sensitive to any attempt by others to get a bit of bread crust on the side. Are there any articles you can link too, where game reps actually admit to being totally focused on Raid content? I am sure they are, but have never heard or read about it being official. While you seem to think it is.
Well yes, the game devs are catering to the Meta. Which is my playstyle. I DO NOT DENY THAT. Solo players have ALWAYS been 2nd class citizens. Again, I do not deny that.
What irks me is that somehow playing the Meta means I don’t also deserve the same platform as RPs or people “who want to play their own way”
I sometimes use pets but since my in brain lore with this toon is that its a dark ranger not a hunter i dont use pets except in the rare occasion i need a tank to do 4 more seconds of damage so i dont die
But i dont want my pet ability gone and sure as hell dont want some dumb bird with me it ruins my immersion into this character ive been playing since it was made in burning crusade
If theyre removing pets due to class “fantasy” then beastmaster should be required to feed their pets and bag the poop! Thats the fantasy of a pet class.
Sure, I’m not doing 10+. What’s that got to do with anything? The changes will help me and the people like me who ARE the Meta. None of the people here have said “I am doing 10+ Mythics” and I always have the pet out and I hate the changes.
You are truly grasping at straws if you think me only doing 6’s somehow obviates my credibility.
Do you have a 2k+ rating MM Hunter who does 10+ and always has a pet out? If you do then I take back everything I’ve said.
Ok so, I have no problem with you, or anyone else, particpating in raid or M+. I absolutely DESPISE raids, and dislike M+. But if other people like them, I’m fine with that.
You go girlfriend! Live yo best life! As they say.
What I complain about is that even when the produce some solo content, it is really “soloable content”. Delves are obviously made to be optimal, from a time and difficulty standpoint, to be done in groups, just like 5-man instances. The way they scale and the design of the end bosses, they are pretty much the same as those.
I would like something, even just ONE THING, made for people such as myself. They have follower dungeons, but those are trivial. No challenge to them at all. Delves are only a challenging for certain classes. While for any pet class they are trivial.
I’m not asking for the same amount of content for people such as myself, just a little bit. A single dry bone on which I can gnaw away my time.
