Please Do Not Force Arugal to become PvE, Let OCE Keep the Choice

Dear Blizzard/Classic Team,
I’m writing this as a concerned OCE player on Arugal, and I know many others feel the same way. There are strong reasons why Arugal should remain a PvP realm, and I’d like to outline them clearly here.

  1. Arugal Was Chosen Because of It’s PvP option

Many of us specifically rolled on Arugal because it’s a PvP realm, not by accident, but by choice. That identity matters. PvP realms offer a different kind of experience and community that PvE realms simply don’t. If we wanted to be limited to PvE content, we would have rolled on Remulos.

While some players might consider transferring to US PvP realms, the reality is that most won’t due to latency, social ties, or just not wanting to leave their established community. So in effect, OCE players would simply lose out on world PvP entirely.

  1. Every Other Region Gets a Choice Why Not OCE?

US and EU players still have the choice between PvP and PvE realms. If Arugal is converted, OCE players will be the only ones without that choice. Removing Arugal as a PvP realm means forcing all Oceanic players into PvE only gameplay, which is unfair and unnecessary. That lack of parity feels like we’re being sidelined as a region.

  1. The Timeless Isle Will Be Dead on a PvE Realm,

With the upcoming Timeless Isle content, world PvP becomes more important than ever it’s designed for spontaneous world PvP. It includes same faction PvP mechanics (Censer of Eternal Agony). It’s notorious for being a hotspot for chaotic, open world battles the kind that make Classic great.

Turning Arugal into a PvE realm would kill that experience before it even begins. Players won’t get to enjoy one of MoP’s most exciting world PvP zones the way it was.

  1. Please Respect Player Choice,

We’re simply asking for the same thing other regions have: a choice between PvP and PvE realms. Let Arugal remain the PvP home for OCE players who still love that kind of gameplay. We’re happy to coexist alongside PvE options like Remulos, but please don’t remove Arugal’s identity and force a single playstyle on the whole region.

Sincerely, An Arugal player who still enjoys open world PvP and is looking forward to the Timeless isle with fond memories.

OCE is such a small group of players in the overall picture that they just don’t care what you guys think or feel.

And that sucks.

Honestly it’s for the best that we change to PvE, all The Timeless Isle is going to be is 10 Horde camping 3 Alliance.

Ill tag this post for needed clearification.

Blizzard doesn’t care. Not about OCE. Not about Classic players. Not about Classic guilds. Not about keeping the spirit of Classic alive.

That’s the reality. They’re all much too busy working on player housing for Retail, and this realm consolidation simply must happen this reset! Consult with the players? Consider doing what’s best for Classic rather than what’s cheapest? Don’t be ridiculous!

They unceremoniously killed off Remulos in Wrath Classic by opening transfers to Arugal with no explanation or context and allowing people to speculate as to the future of the realm, and now, to cater to the people who rolled on a PvP realm and accepted the PvP ruleset but didn’t want to PvP, we all lose. Bye bye prefered ruleset.

If they had left Remulos alone in Wrath, OCE would have one larger PvP realm (because OCE has always preferred PvP realms) and one smaller-but-still-workable PvE realm.

They’ve responded to the concerns of the few hundred people on Bloodsail Buccaneers but won’t address the thousands of players on Arugal. I’m glad for the players on BSB who have been thrown a lifeline, but why is OCE once again the afterthought?

The state of the region is not the players’ fault, and rather than doing something meaningful to address it, it’s much easier for Blizzard to stick the PvE bandaid across the region and pretend that somehow makes things better for everyone.

But the Alliance are still going to be massively outnumbered. They’ll have the same queue times as they do now. They’ll have the same number of guilds as they do now. It’ll take them just as long to find bodies to fill their raids. This change does nothing except remove player choice and ignore player preference.

PvP realms have always been my preference. The Alliance on Arugal are good sports about world PvP. When I’ve engaged in it, it’s typically been 1v1s or small groups fighting. Occasionally you get ganked in Thrallmar leveling an alt, but if I didn’t want to accept that I’d be on Remulos, not Arugal. I and many of my friends were eagerly anticipating the Timeless Isle. This change makes me care far less about engaging with Classic as a whole.

I wonder if old mate with his ChatGPT subscription on standby will show up in this thread ready to astroturf the discussion as well.
