I love running dungeons to level my alts, but it doesn’t seem worth it when 9 times out of 10 I get paired with someone 7 levels higher and I get significantly less EXP than I should. I get Blizzard is trying to curb boosting but legitimately leveling shouldn’t be punished because there’s someone that queue’d in that was 7 levels higher. Please remove the nerf, at least in RDF dungeons.
I do agree they should disable the exp nerf in RDF dungeons. Good post.
Perhaps they could adjust the matchmaking algorithm to not pair people at such large level disparities.
It was like that but caused issues with availability for instances. Made some low level dungeons unavailable for certain people. This is a reasonable ask imo.
There were problems with level ranges being way too narrow, so they loosened them up a bit…and then went way too far in the other direction, so now people are getting put into dungeons where the mobs are gray to them
That’s probably why we get instances that are too low for where we should be. I don’t want to run Ramparts at level 65/66…
Meh. I think it’d be much better to restrict the levels they are matching, personally (or at least a way to toggle it off - if you want that large of a level range, then the trade-off of losing out on experience seems reasonable).
Last night i got bfd at level 30 and stockades at 31…had to leave both times as a tanks because A i wouldn’t get any xp and as a result no one else would ethire which is asinine and for a company as large as blizzard should have been fixed when the thing came out
Level disparities between players isn’t the issue, the game nerfs xp if someone is too high a level (like 8 levels) over the mobs in the dungeon. (Nerfs it more than normal, I mean)
Too high or too low. BRD as soon as you can get in with the rest of the party 55-60 and you’ll get jack all as well.
Yeah, that’s literally an issue that’s resolved by reducing level disparity.
Incorrect. If a single person in the party is too much higher than the mobs, it ruins xp for EVERYONE. Being lower level has no effect.
At the expense of already sometimes lengthy queue times. Just remove the xp penalty they introduced with anti-boosting.
Being in full boas, JJ active, and getting less xp than a solo open world mob begs to differ. Going in with the rest of the party within the 52-54 range and it was full xp.
There’s all sorts of issues with the antiboost mechanics/xp penalties. Even more if you manually go in when you’re able to enter the dungeon and not wait for the RDF minimum level. One person enough levels above you, but the mobs are still green, will trigger the antiboost and nuke the xp.
For RDF an 80 doing normals can get put into some of the lower wrath dungeons and do it there as well. Mobs still green to me, but the 73-74s in the party are getting next to nothing. I wanted to farm wg stones for honor tokens and figured blitzing RDF normals with levelers would be fun as a 60k hp bear… but after the first couple pulls of them saying they were getting next to no xp I left.
You get bonus xp for finishing the dungeon and killing bosses so it balances out.
So that’s why leveling by RDF feels so slow sometimes. Yeah, I support getting rid of this. Maybe make it so it only applies to people outside of the dungeon’s RDF level range.
It does not. the bonus exp for completing random dungeons is barely worth anything
I got almost a half of a level in BFD at 28 last night. Seemed pretty worth it tbh.
That’s low level. By the time you’re 40 and beyond the exp clear reward from random dungeons might as well not be a factor
Well thats you then.
Maybe it’s keyed to how long the dungeon is? I was farming stocks + smg on my level 29-30 priest yesterday and the end of dungeon xp seemed pretty trivial; I ran some green quests this morning and got more XP in the same amount of time.
What a non-argument
