I can assure you that no one has an ego about their cloak level.

If anything - all of us WANT them to remove the restriction (even though we’re all at cap), because it deepens the viable player pool during a time where historically subscriptions start to fall off (end of expansion before pre-patch).

Exactly, the only people who are against it is the ones that have an superiority complex.

Because not being able to play with your friends, or feeling like they’re dragging you along when you do play with them really, really sucks?

Nobody is arguing against “putting in the work” to catch up, but what’s the benefit of time gating it?

If someone has a week off therefore the time to kill N’zoth a dozen time in that week to catch up, where’s the harm?

Well, yes. Because you aren’t going to go the party at all if you can’t participate are you?

You do realize farming last tiers gear like ICC would be like getting 430s right now?

And you can do that REALLY quickly with all the gear sources available.

Essences are already infinitely easier.

The cape is MUCH faster level due to increased CE amounts from assaults/dailies, reduced page requirements, and vessels being purchasable with echos relative to the effort required initially.

And 430’s get you absolutely nowhere.

Can’t compare an expansion that had a power-cap like WoTLK where once you got the gear, you were good to go and free to to do whatever the hell you want to a system like we have now that scales nearly indefinitely but where the social expectations is to be at the cutting edge of it, if you want to do any fun content anyway.

LFM ICC10 6k gearscore only.

This very character is a reroll from that era. It really wasn’t that bad.

You even had fun events like GDKP runs that helped smooth things out if you had a main.

WoTLK Main is here.

Letting people catch up hurts some people’s special awards.

At this point we really need to get the 99% to sign a petition on the Change organization so we can finally get this much needed change to the Blizzard higher ups lol. Spread the word on these forums and throughout Azeroth.

I played through it as well. With no cross realm yet for raids it was very hit and miss if you were getting into pugs.

But if you feel it wasn’t bad, I’ll continue with right now you can get people of similar gear and experience, alts, together and run the raids and mythic+ dungeons as well.

Get those 435-440 people together and go hit up normal Ny’alotha or some +4-6 keys.

You’ll get gear, mementoes, and echos for essences/corruptions/vessels.

As a returning player this. And end the essence grind too. It’s going to be prepatch before I catch up. There is no reason for it

There’s hardly anyone around that fits this though, the game isn’t exactly thriving beyond its existing userbase (ie the people already with max cloaks etc.).

What does any of this has to do with hard-gating the cloak’s progression through time?

Nothing unless this is your first expansion being “ahead of the curve” and you’re somewhat feeling desperate to cling to it simply because you logged on the damn game.

I don’t care either way. I’ve advocated cores should drop from the weekly mythic+ and PvP chests in various other posts.

I just pug every tier to get aotc. Don’t really care much after that. Playing classic off and on and leveling allies races.

I was replying to a post discussing Wrath’s catchup systems which for gearing is vastly inferior to the current system. Gear catchup to actual strong gear is SO much faster it’s silly.

I also feel the easier alts are to maintain the more the “expectation” creeps in that you have to maintain alts. It becomes much easier to fotm follow as well.

Of course there should be a balance.

An alt is supposed to be behind? That’s why it’s called an alternate?

If you don’t think that you’re still going to be insanely behind on corruptions and sockets I don’t know what to tell you.

more than likely shadowlands is going to launch in Sept so prepatch is a July thing

You can’t make a direct comparison when the gear gap and power grinds of BfA don’t really compare directly to WotLK.

lol. EP essences are ridiculous. C&S has always been ridiculous.

Can’t imagine the perspective of someone who actually thinks cape catch up is in a good place. You’re wrong, but I don’t have the energy to try to help you understand why.

Echoes are way too slow of a farm. We should be able to farm multiple sets of corruptions per character in a reasonable amount of time. Not one if you happen to want to spam rated PvP or M+ for many hours for one set on a single character.

Vessels should not exist at all. It’s an indefensible trash system. There should be no currency limited attempts in content where the rewards are already gated weekly anyway.

Wishful thinking, remember they were delayed by Covid-19. Personally think the expack will be more in the ballpark of November.

Not that’s what i want, the sooner the reset happens the better for me.

If we were this close they wouldn’t still be making blog posts about BFA “features” anyway like they just did today.
