Actually quite the opposite, since they added a catch up mechanic to the cloak.
The argument that players catching up have no effect on the enjoyment of players who are ahead is inherently flawed because it is a two-way street. Just as those who are behind donât think someone who is ahead should mind them catching up, a player who is ahead can argue that those who are behind should not mind the fact that others are ahead.
That said, catch up mechanics have been a thing for a long time and will continue to be a thing. The question of tuning them is a delicate one, of course.
This notion is really difficult when it comes to any kind of competitive play, though.
Just take a simplistic example. Letâs say there is a racing game. Iâve been playing for a year and have a car that is twice as fast as the starter car. Would you even want to play the game knowing that you are at a mechanical disadvantage right out of the gate, and will likely end up losing virtually all of your matches until youâve âpaid your duesâ?
It would really depend on the diversity of racing options i was given.
100% this. An alt is still going to be so far behind on essences, corruptions and sockets. Hell boa cloak should be a thing so people can just worry about grinding sockets and corruptions which still takes forever
Except it still requires killing M NâZoth. What is the difference between someone doing 13 visions today right now, and doing 13 visions over the past 13 weeks?
Luckily, gear and echos to buy essences come from many of the same sources.
Todayâs 4-weeks-late post basically affirms there are no known, planned changes for Malefic Core drops. Sucks.
It matters because now for example, someone has the corruption to have another TD than someone else, and almost 2. If you think that DPS output of rank 2 TD does not matter, then you are truly mistaken.
No.
WotLK was one of the most popular expansions in the games history.
It had a catch up mechanic where you could easily get the previous raids entire set with set bonuses in a weeks time farming heroic dungeons when the next tier came out. It was the only reason people who had quit during Naxx came back when trial came out and then ended up sticking around and raiding through Icecrown.
Catch up mechanics should be fast. It doesnât invalidate anything the people who did it when it was current did. You did it while it was current and benefited from it in a way the new and returning players or someoneâs alt no longer can.
For what exactly⊠the only thing I can imagine is PVP, which already is broken to no end.
That leaves things like M+ and Raiding.
If you need more corruption by now then maybe you should consider getting a better group or getting better yourself.
This need to ââcatch up and not be left behindââ is really a weird mentality to have that seemingly is a big cause for peoples displeasure with the game.
Are you kidding me? Having more corruption helps a group in any end game content. Is this a troll reply?
I have alts with enough Coalescing Visions to grind enough Echos to buy more corruption than I could reasonably equip for weeks, seems like a pretty huge disconnect in the system imo.
That has nothing to do with what I wrote. Iâm fully aware how messed up the system is. I donât like it myself. But not what I was meaning in my post.
Get good. If you canât do Heroic by now after all the nerfs etc, the need for more corruption is just a crutch and a way to say you or your group is messing up more than they should be. Plain and simple.
M+ high keys, yes, they are required but you know what, any HIGH end content requires you to do a lot of things. Unfortunately the way BFA was done, it doesnât really help those that need to catch up.
If you think Iâm trolling, go bother some one else.
Oh your response is Get good. Yes, I was correct. You are a troll.
Honestly, I get the arguments. I do. What I donât get is the exaggeration. You donât have to be capped and stacked to be âviable.â You just donât.
If youâre the type of player that needs to be capped and stacked b/c of M+ 20-and-over, then sure. If youâre in the highest tiers of ranked PvP, then sure. Those people have been on top of their gear, though, and most new and alt characters are not doing that content. Mythic raid has long been cleared without anyone being capped. You donât need it to be viable.
You just donât.
It definitely feels super bad when you donât have it. Itâs not fun raiding when you donât have 30% more haste (or more as corruptions are nuts). The class feels so slugish and lame without them.
So youâre stuck playing something that plays like poop for litteraly no reason.
Hey Blizzard - This oneâs free of charge.
âPlayers who complete a full clear vision will receive a Malefic Core, with no restrictions, until the point which they catch up to the current corruption resistance limitâ.
This allows you guys to even keep your precious time-gating, because those players will still be limited by the amount of visions they can run per week.
It also even allows you guys to have your precious engagement metrics, as those players will now be doing every single daily quest every single day to get as many visions as they can!
Itâs Win-Win for you guys now, and itâs been upgraded from Lose-Lose to Win-Lose for the player! PERFECT!
I do think itâs silly that they added catch-up for the early bits, but not the malefic cores. I dusted off this character a few months after Nâyalotha because Iâm so sick of how mage plays right now, and even after going full try-hard on it since like, March, Iâm still catching up.
Removing an invisible weekly limit doesnât negate any work done. That already happened when they made it take less pages to level the cloak, yet no outcry from this audience thenâŠ
All this would do is allow those who are behind to do additional work now to catch up bypassing an invisible time gated wall. The work would still be done, just without having to wait week by week.
For anyone who has a problem with this, its just an epeen issue getting in the way and someone wants to feel superior to others, and not because of the âwork doneâ. Just a straight up ego, and superiority complex.
