People currently have to waste a profession slot on Tailoring just to get subpar bandages that we used to get from the secondary profession, First Aid. I’m not sure I see the point of doing that, but there are plenty of fans, myself included, who’d really like to see that returned and with some new abilities. It was fun being a Survival hunter with added healing abilities to help people in need.
It would also make sense to give them a percentage based healing type. 20% for basic bandages. The higher your character’s level, the better quality of cloth it will require to heal that 20%.
Each expansion has several levels of cloth, leading up to the most power cloths for any given expansion. Using the greatest of these allow the medic to heal for up to 45% of their patient’s max health when you learn to make the best bandages with the latest herbs added to remove poisons, diseases, and bleed effects. Keep in mind that if your patient is hit, the heal currently channeling is canceled.
Additionally, medics would also gain the “Throw Potion” skill, which allows you to throw a potion from your inventory at a target area which shatters and heals targets for a portion of the potion’s value over time. Essentially, a misty vapor in a small area that provides healing.
Resuscitation allows you to resurrect slain allies. The better your equipment and skill, the more health they resurrect with.
If anyone has any suggestions or feedback, it’s always welcome. As always, keep it civil and add logical reasons for why you agree or disagree.

First Aid used to be fun to level and use as a Rogue. A core part of Rogue game play.
Also I have to concur that sequestering First Aid into Tailoring was a bad change.

100% agreed. The game was so much better when a prepared traveler could truly enjoy adventuring through the world knowing that their efforts paid off. It just added a fun sense of survival and independence to the game.

You don’t.
You can get bandages from tailoring without having tailoring.
It is not BoP and doesn’t require tailoring to use.

In fact I use bandages to do Kael’thas in Castle Nathria as a warrior.

DAMN should’ve thought about that, I had to swap to my shaman to do the mythic Kael’thas.

with the 11.05 we can do the jailers eye without that annoying chain pulling mobs

Yeah someone told me about it in another thread a few weeks back.
On Mythic though you need to pick up at least 2 orbs from the soul infusers to push the phases with just the one bandage. Maybe more orbs depending on the quality you are using. I use rank 3 weavercloth ones. LFR, normal and heroic you don’t need to worry about the orbs that give the healing buff.
It is also possible that in the upcoming patch we might not need the bandages at all. They are making changes to certain Shadowlands bosses to make them easier to solo. Most likely referring to Kel’thuzad but Kael’thas might be in that. They might increase the healing the fonts do for non-healing classes.

with kael’thas they will have him heal over time on his own in the 11.05

Interesting. I would’ve expected something to do with the fonts as that was how non-healing classes could help with “healing” the boss.
On a side note. Blizzard broke the Heart of Azeroth so trying to solo heroic Dreamwalker in ICC on non-healing classes is a pain again. Due to the dot aura the boss has on heroic, you cannot use bandages as they get interrupted, even at our current level relative to ICC. However azerite pieces still work for pre-SL content, just the HoA essences are broken (i.e. crucible of flame). So better go farm Uldir for a lazer matrix azerite piece again. yay.

I do the same in icc on the green dragon boss

I already pay for health insurance IRL, I don’t want to have to pay for my bandages off the AH while I’m at it…

I’ve tried that once on heroic back in BFA and it wouldn’t let me. Normal worked fine but on heroic it didn’t due to the dot aura. So I had to get an azerite piece from Uldir with lazer matrix on it. This was before 8.2 released with the Crucible of Flame essence… Which Blizzard has broken along with all the other essences.

And now adding that only tailors can get the cloth to drop is just dumb. Makes leveling that profession harder and more expensive.

Not true. Only tailors can get them from humanoids yes, but miners can get it from the webbed mining nodes. Although only at rank 1.
I don’t think improving your mining skill in the webbed nodes increases the chance of getting rank 2 or 3 weavercloth. I haven’t put any research points into webbed notes yet so I cannot answer that myself.

But that’s a rare thing. And the cloth that does drop isn’t enough so you end up having to buy from the AH.

Did you just move some goalposts?
Besides from my experience the cloth is a 100% drop rate from the webbed nodes, just finding the nodes themselves is the rare part. Somewhat.

I’ve learned not to count on people making things and prefer to make my own. Additionally, I enjoy the crafting process and would also like to see additional First Aid abilities like the ones I listed.
AGREED!

I didn’t move the goalpost Blizzard did when they took the cloth drops from humanoids to tailors only.
