Oh so now who’s got the snowflake syndrome? I thought everyone said it was me… And it’s not harassment. I’m not singling people out, per se. Am I being slightly offensive toward a group of highly offensive people? Sure.
That kind of thinking, assumption is necessary in order to be offended. If you don’t make that assumption, is it possible to be offended by any name someone wants to call themself?
I don’t get offended by anything people name themself - not to say I never report anyone for vulgar names but that isn’t because I am offended. I just think sometimes people deserve to have a stupidity tax applied.
and yet… you’re offended at the thought that certain combinations of letters can be blacklisted from the naming process.
what’s wrong with letting the op have their opinion?
for someone who thinks it’s a non-issue, you’re sure dedicating a lot of time to arguing about it.
the only way you’d be able to give a valid opinion on that, is if you were one of the people doing it.
…but you know as well as the rest of us, that the people who are doing this, are doing it to get reactions from people.
Am I? Please show how I’m offended.
Not sure you understand what an opinion is. Demanding Blizzard ban various words from being able to be used in character names isn’t an opinion.
Please quote where I said it’s a “non issue.” Also, what exactly is this non issue?
My assumption that they are just doing it for themselves is based on the fact I name my character for myself.
Is your assumption that they are just doing it to get reactions from other people based on the fact you name your character for that reason?
If you want them to ban names like that then you need to also demand they unban names like “Snowball”. It sounds more like people are just looking for things to be offended by(common trend these days & in 1st world countries). There’s a Poster whose toon’s name is “Virus” Should that person change their name or be banned because all viruses have killed people before?
27 posts in this thread, show that you’re offended at the suggestion being made.
i didn’t see any demands.
i saw a polite request.
no, i only make that assumption when people try to be edgelords by using names which they know will trigger people.
i’ve even watched people with horrific names try to defend those names when they were slapped with a re-name.
Rofl, no it doesn’t. That’s some super asinine logic you have there.
Until you find posts further down the thread. Request still isn’t an opinion by the way.
I think assumptions are dangerous things sometimes.
the policy is fairly straight forward when it comes to not using names of adult acts.
?
it’s a request based on an opinion.
people do their best to try and push the naming thing as far as they can.
this much, isn’t an assumption.
it’s a fact based on years of watching people use highly inappropriate names, and then watch them stomp their feet like a child when big daddy blizz says NO.
That doesn’t provide any kind of proof as to why they are doing it.
I know you assumed I wasn’t playing the game.
No that wasn’t an assumption. It was something I remembered you posting once.
There is a difference which since I already answered you in another thread on this you may not be able to understand, but oh well.
An opinion that was easily countered considering the OP didn’t even think it through. The opinion is the opinion, not the request. The opinion would be a word is offensive, the request would be to get rid of the word. No one gives a crap about the OP thinking a word is offensive, it’s mostly just childish, the problem is the request for censoring a word that any sane person knows isn’t offensive based on the fact, as I said in other posts, doesn’t take into account an entire slew of other words that are being used that could be classified as much, much worse.
You remember incorrectly and assumed it.
Otherwise please link the source.
This is the reality unfortunate reality, the only time people will respect to not joke about something is when a loved one close to them dies from it. The emotional bond isn’t there when it happens to someone else’ s kid/wife/husband/w.e however the word loved one can be applied
Oh another assumption. I am not going to go through the posting history of someone who has their posting history hidden.
Sorry, your memory is not working as well as you would like then.
Weird, I have had family die of cancer but you don’t see me making threads trying to get the word “Cancer” censored because of all the various characters using it as their names.
Also, how is naming your character “Coronavirus” a joke? It’s the name of a virus. Are you going to whine about the various characters named “Ebola?”
Yes! I hate mostly anything meme related really. It’s just actually not even funny as a joke even, just some blatant immaturity in my opinion.
