+1 for a positive post
Just a quick aside, since there seems to be some misinformation going 'round:
If you are unable to speak due to a influx of reports, that is a squelch, a very temporary measure that is done while an investigation is ongoing
Silences are manually done after a review and there is evidence of wrong doing, growing in intensity after repeat offenses
Sure, you can, technically, get squelched from spam reports but it will only last a short time, and the spam reporters will likely get punched with a warning or ban
You can always pay a visit to the Customer Service forum: The reps there verify that reports, including language reports, are manually looked at
What if I’m a masochist?
2 things wrong with this narrative :
1- The “squelch” penalty is completely, 100% identical to the silence penalty, and its duration is based on the same pyramid that the silence is based on.
2- There is no investigation unless you appeal. Every squelch will last to duration unless appealed, where it is then manually reviewed.
No, the squelch is simply allowed to go full duration. Because Squelch and Silence are the same thing, except on GD where you pretend they are not.
And you actually believe that. That’s cute. Technically not a lie : they are, if they are appealed.
No it’s not
And you know this how? I can list a few Blue posts saying otherwise.
I mean I appreciate your conspiracy theories here but I think I’d take the word of people who actually work for Blizzard and, well, not you, to be honest
Also yes, silences are not automatically done: They are the result of an investigation
It’s not an argument, I’m sorry, you’re just being flat out wrong in this case
Explain the difference. Same chat restrictions, same duration.
Sure you can, but we have streams proving otherwise.
If you have people mass flag you, get “squelched” (aka silenced) and don’t appeal, you’ll notice the “squelch” last its full duration, even though the reports were 100% false.
I play both sides, and I have some rather odd hours I keep…
The most peaceful playtime I have had personally is either early morning through noon on Horde side or about 11pm to 4 am on Alliance EST on Central time server. Interestingly enough, these are times I wouldn’t typically expect children to be online

The current AV Event is rife with buttholes all hours of the day and night on both sides however. I’ve ignored more people in 30 days than I have in the last 15 years…
Um, if you scroll up a few posts, I did.
And those have been debunked. That streamer you are claiming, it already came out he edited the video to make him like he was in the right and he left out quite a bit of information.
silences are only applied after being reviewed by a human.
just wanted to re-quote that one, with this link:
…but at this point, it’s derailing the thread.
If you feel the need to ask exactly the same question, and hope to get a different answer, head on over to CS and try your luck.
the impact may be the same on the user, but the squelch is temporary… until reviewed.
if it was unwarranted, no silence is applied, and the squelch is lifted.
you can’t appeal a squelch… it sits there until it’s reviewed.
you can appeal a silence, but the chances of it getting overturned are minimal, because it’s ALREADY been reviewed.
It was proved by people. It’s not a conspiracy theory when you have actual evidence.
Yet you admit your “squelch”, a silence that simply uses a different term in your mind, is 100% automated.
Baffling.
Let me throw this at you then: What benefit does Blizzard gain for lying about their disciplinary methods, do you think they’re going, “loooooe, gottem, they think we really look at tickets haha, dabbin’ on 'em”
When the ‘people’ make a blue post about it then I guess I’ll pay heed to it but like I said, not an argument, you’re just being wrong and it’s the last I’ll comment on it
Gain ? They don’t have a massive PR nightmare of “automated non-reviewed punishments” and don’t have more people abusing the system, knowing that it’s automated and thus can easily be gamed.
So they try to pretend its not.
So your using “Appeal to authority” and think the color blue is more important than actual people proving otherwise, with video evidence ?
Source to the debunking. Because usually, when people say “It has been debunked”, what they mean is “someone claimed it was false with no evidence, so now I repeat it is false”.

“Video evidence is quackerie”
– Thundertotem-blackwater-raiders.
I think we are done here.

oh look.
video evidence that the world is flat. ![]()
just because people are incapable of understanding something, doesn’t mean their interpretation is correct.
I’m very respectful to all of you nerds.
That’s not video evidence, that’s video opinion.
Learn to understand the difference, and you’ll be more able to spot people actually pushing an agenda on you, instead of going to bat for them.
When you have hundreds of people report you, and you can’t chat within seconds, that’s automated. When it’s the same restrictions as some other “system”, it’s the same system (if you’ve done any kind of programming work). When you don’t appeal a false report and it goes to full duration, that’s not being manually reviewed.
Simple facts. Actual facts, not opinion presented as facts.
