While I don’t disagree that sites, like warcraft logs, have ruined wow its not going anywhere. However even if they banned an addon to show parsing numbers it wouldn’t fix anything. People can still go to the website. This is why classic will never be like the original. The parsing culture, the knowledge we’ve gained, and the overall playerbase has ruined classic before it even launched.
First of all, there is no law that requires TOS to be enforced, its 100% the companies choice. Second, banning it could cost Blizzard money to enforce, draw bad pr from the community involved and could even cost them subscribers if they see the tool is driving more engagement with the game than its driving away.
So you may “feel” this is about their fiduciary responsibility, but the fact is, it isnt that black and white. It may be more costly to enforce than to let it lie.
As has been said many times, it is a free addon that is currently in a restricted alpha test.
The PED comparison is a fair comparisons for some addons, depending on the addon.
Healbot for example means less clicks and less time traveled to click in order to heal. That’s performance enhancement.
You can achieve the same result with mouseover macros
Must not be talking about archon, because it’s 100% only available to people who pay for their $25 patreon sub. It’s been talked about by many people, Asmon made a video on it too.
It is in TESTING. Available in ALPHA for patreon subs as they are actually confirmed active WCL users who provide feedback (the people you want to test a WCL addon).
As confirmed by WCL mods on discord it will be free on full release.
If you even take a brief look at their site, you will realize that the payment is not for the add-on but for the other features, and that once the add-on is out of testing, it will be free. As for the site, looking at it, I personally don’t see why anyone would pay for it, as it doesn’t really show much more then WCL and most of the information seemed pretty common knowledge, however it does seem to be a bit better organized and access to additional games like FF and SWTOR.
Also to be honest if the add-on only shows parse information when you mouse over someone it isn’t even that useful for creating groups and you would still likely need to go to WCL, if I really wanted an add-on that would help weed out bad players when creating a pug, it would show peoples parse info, level, spec, etc when you get a private messages.
Easy humiliation for parselords.
Cause the 100% cap to only be reachable without addons.
…whats wrong, cant do it?. Kretchlords.
Lets just make the casuals and grayparsers that are left wear little yellow badges so we can see them and more easily avoid them. Maybe the addon can put raid markers on them for you automatically.
All the information you are given is already readily available in the website and the link you generate when someone inspects you. This is just skipping the website click that anyone curating a pug raid group goes through.
I don’t get the worry.
I left SoD strictly because of the terrible gatekeeper community of parselord players. The new abilities and content was fun though.
Me too brother
So much mental gymnastics in this thread to justify a paid addon
The sweatlords need to be able to let others know they are better than them. Its not about “self improvement” like they always claim, its about denigrating others and driving them out.
I couldn’t care less about what the addon does. It doesn’t matter that it will be free eventually. It is not now.
It’s a paid addon, and it alongside the other paid addons highlighted in this thread like RXP all need to be removed until they are completely free for everyone.
SOD is going to die soon, who cares.
That’s not what gate-keeping is, lets call it what it is, rejection. Rejected based on your recorded performance. Join another group you’ll be fine.
Why am I not surprised Blinky is in a thread supporting some type of real money exchange in exchange for ingame WoW advantages over other players.
