I hoping for this feature to be implemented earlier than when it was originally released. I know some are against this service because they feel servers will just be flooded with the dominate faction. However in my case I would love this feature because I had an old friend start playing WoW again after years but he is strictly alliance. I have one rogue up to 67 atm there but I have 3 70’s now basically abandoned on Horde Faerlina and would love to faction change to Ally Ashkandi to have those toons there and not have to level them all over again to 70 which we all know is a brutal time consuming process. There are legitmate reasons why I feel this should be available and I am sure I am not the only one. Not all of us just wanna flock to saturated PvP servers… some like myself just want to transfer to be able to play with friends. Thanks you for reading this and feel free to give your opinions on the matter would love to see why your against it and why some would be for it.
Faction changes will only worsen the balance issue as incentivizes guilds to mass faction swap to whatever has the best racials for PVE/PVP.
it cant get much worse than it already is
ill take Faction Xfers over boosts any day
Yes it can, it really can.
And I think Boosts were a horrible idea for that too. (among many reasons)
Have to ask yourself one simple question, will Blizzard make money from it?
You can comes to your own conclusions
It absolutely can get worse. MUCH worse. Retail realms are almost all cross-server now for a reason.
No. please dont
the lesser of 2 awful evils…
i dont have intention of rolling horde but still. i guess some people do
Look at the top Classic servers, all are heavily leaning one way, with the most populated US servers Bene, Faerlina, and Whitmane all 99%+
I was on Herod Ally from day 1 classic until ally all folded and Xferred to Bene in BC, its more or less inevitable, and I imagine these servers will just grow more and more thru BC into Wrath. Faction Xfers arent exactly going to worsen how it already is
Meh I will pay for a faction transfer. I am not sweaty enough to do it for PvP or PvE reason, but it beats releveling and gearing the same class. I love the people that say it will get abused… you are talking about the small fraction of sweaty people. Most of us are adults that just want to enjoy the game when we can.
Yes, it would. The only thing faction transfers will do is cause people to switch from the lower pop faction to the higher pop faction on heavily unbalanced servers, making the problem exponentially worse.
We know that’s what will happen because it literally already happened.
I played on an horribly unbalanced, horde favored server back when faction changes were first introduced to the game. Almost overnight the already small alliance community on that server pretty much disappeared altogether and it was the same story with most of the other unbalanced servers which is why cross-server phasing was introduced.
You can dig your heels in and insist that faction transfers will fix the balance issues in Classic all you want to, but the fact of the matter is we know that it won’t because it was already tried and it only created more problems. There’s no hypothetical or “what-ifs” in this situation, we know exactly what’s going to happen.
Question is why do you care so much about faction imbalance on servers? Wintergrasp will be an issue but really why care so much about it?
PvP servers were destroyed by themselves, people got sick of being camped so they left. I went from Smolderweb to Pagle because I got sick of flying into a flight path and getting camped by 5-10 people. So in order to have fun I left. The PvPers cried when they had no one to camp anymore, so they did it to themselves.
Then why haven’t they put in stuff like pve->pvp transfers, which first was implemented back inTBC?
I agree with your premise, so there must be another reason. Maybe there’s some technical problem having such account services apply to Classic characters.
Uhhhh what? I mean, they all have their own separate AHs, guilds, etc…
But yes you can hook up with players on any server and play with them just fine. Is that a big deal for some odd reason? You literally already do that in BGs… so whats the issue.
You say it like its a bad thing you can play with anyone… I’d argue that would have saved TBC players about $500,000 in xfer fees in the last year and change.
And with the divide on player base now (70’s in maintenance mode >>>> than levelers I would wager)…pvp not looking good.
I need to level. I tend to not get dungeons. Ask no replies. And /who says my dude…there ain’t 4 others here to start with lol.
While I found the idea of pvp only servers interesting…refer back to the above. I need to level. Hard to when dead and in a gy alot. So I do lots of open world. More like all open world. Dungeon gives 5k xp I miss. I get that back by killing extra mobs in the world. Grindy…but it gets progression.
So as I left a dead OCE server for horde and alliance, pve servers mankrik and altiesh were chosen. I really just want my xp. And will take my chances when there that enough carebears run AV, wintergrasp in time.
They’ll sell a boost for people that want to switch.
faction balance is a meme and is irrelevant. Time to move on.
Wintergrasp actually makes it relevant in Wrath.
blizz can easily instance it and make it same faction vs same faction.
If the server imbalances and mass server migrations are anything to go on, it’s safe to say MOST of us are sweats, as much as I want to agree with you.
