I’m seriously so burnt out on returning to this game to find out my realm has experienced another mass exodus. Combine realms, delete some, I do not care how it is done, but something has got to change.
I’m not paying for another transfer, and I’m not buying another boost. I pay monthly for an mmo. Not some single player experience in a shell of a realm with no people and an AH with literally nothing in it. It’s so infuriating that this is STILL an issue, I get there’s money in people just moving over but for the love of God, blizzard do the right thing just once.
They wouldn’t have needed to had they left LFD in wrath.
I’m past that. Lfd was never the issue, the fact realms are still active with no one on them is total nonsense. Ineptitude at best and theft at its worst.
I just want to play wow and it’s like they’re trying to ruin it.
Which server are you on? Some still have free transfers off.
Hopefully, they do something going into Wrath.
To Ripteye:
The RDF thing is completely irrelevant to the (PVP) server issues at this point unless we’re talking about PVE servers where that statement has some backing, but it doesn’t seem like this is about PVE servers. 10 months ago maybe RDF would have mattered, but now it’s way too late. Maybe some of you people who care so much about this should have cared about how Blizzard has spent months giving others the middle finger. Suddenly the fire gets to your house and you scream for help even though you didn’t care about your 20 neighbors.
Agreed, they should fix the smaller servers with merges or at least allow xfers instead of more bandaid fixes which hurt server communities.
A necessity for low to mid pop servers would be an actual fix to low server populations like merging or free xfers. The reason low pop servers are in this mess is because of failed retail game design allowing megaservers. Then allowing transfers, then even adding layering to megaservers to remove queues.
LFG is just adding another layer of bad game design to fix the problem. it wont fix your servers economy, it wont fix your guilds or your raid scene. All it will do is let you access 5man faceroll content easier. If you want to really improve things for your server, ask for merges and xfers instead of LFG.
They won’t do anything about the servers. Cough up the transfer money or quit.
That’s a bit disingenuous. When I pick a realm I try to avoid full ones and I always pick the one with the most even faction split. I have always cared and to say someone hasn’t had issues with all the weird things blizzard has gotten up to lately is…eh.
This isn’t a recent development this has been an issue since actual classic. And when they started “new player” realms jaws hit the floor. I argue this could have been fixed by systematically merging realms, instead they did cross realm where you get all the negatives of a full realm with all the negatives of an empty one. But you could at least que for a brief escape from your current realm.
Sorry if there was a misunderstanding. I put likes on your posts and have empathy for you. I care about the server issues A LOT. What I said was directed at the guy who is mad about LFD and acts like that would fix everything, but probably never cared about server issues before.
On these forums, I’ve watched threads like yours come in multiple times a week for like 10 months straight (since June 2021). Blizzard has mostly just sat on their hands.
I’ve seen people pay for transfers to “healthy realms” after researching the server for a month+ through the game and Discord, and then seen them have to transfer again when that “healthy realm” died months later. I’ve even watched the horde and alliance side die on my <3 server. There are still horde “stuck” on the server because we missed some free transfer cut off by like 100 people.
So yes, I get where you’re coming from and I really do hope something is done going into Wrath. it’s already bad enough now.
My statement was directed at that guy who said RDF will fix all, it wouldn’t, like Bumjockey described above.
My bad. I’m a little fiesty right now. Got all hyped for the next expansion and read some wotlk stuff and bought another month excited to get back into it and for the countless time my realm is at a third the original population. Feels like they just pick us up to knock us down lol
It’s really sad that everyone is trying to talk about a bandaid fix like LFD but for you guys that are on a dead server it does almost nothing. I wish people would try and help you guys get free xfers and server merges instead of using you as a talking point to get a time saving tool they wanted. Merging and fixing server populations would be 100x better for the game than either having or not having LFD.
Sadly as always these threads die while hundreds of LFD thread keep going. I hope you guys get to experience Wrath properly with a good server without having to pay blizzard even more money to fix their mistakes.
LFD was the only thing most people THOUGHT they were gonna do. They will never fix server population issues. No point in arguing it. There has been server pop issues since literally LAUNCH day. It has not been addressed nor will it be.
They gave in and allowed free xfers back when people complained enough. But once some people got what they wanted they stopped trying to help the rest and things got too quiet. If people on healthy servers like ours were vocal enough we might be able to help these guys out instead of bickering about a dungeon tool.
Heres the thing. Does being vocal about these changes generate revenue for blizzard? The opposite actually. You know what does generate rev tho… Transfers
Yes, if enough people stir up a fuss about it they’re inclined to change. I agree the company is soulless and profit driven but that doesn’t mean they are immune to market forces. If people stop playing instead of paying to transfer that can change quickly.
You’re wrong.
They could have done things for the server issues and they didn’t. There have been tons of ideas on these forums. Just having the unending layers by themselves and no queues caused a massive number of servers to die, and that was not authentic to TBC.
I will continue to mostly stay out of the LFD threads out of respect for people being passionate about that, but I agree completely with Bumjockey. To the people that have been nasty about server stuff all I have to say is that you absolutely deserve to not get your way for once.
You REALLY think classic has a large enough population to be a “market force”. More people play OSRS.
They already implemented free xfers, so evidently yes. If there wasn’t enough population for classic to be a "market force’ then Classic wouldn’t exist in the first place. It’s garbage compared to retail for monetisation.
Is it garbage? Cause it seems like an ENTIRELY new game for the retail andys to buy their way through. Milking the big boys just like every mobile dev.
They’re working on monetizing it for sure, but wouldn’t that contradict you saying the game isn’t a market force?
