My raid leader and I had an 87 and 82 parse on Sludgefist and using our BiS single target legendary. Those were the #2 and #3 best parses in our raid for that fight (and #4 wasn’t particularly close).
Yet in terms of DPS, we were in the bottom half (we had 16 DPS). I’ll have to double check but pretty sure grey and low green parses did more pure DPS than us.
Also said this before but our damage is literally on par with tanks when our CDs aren’t up, and yet we’re the least bursty Mage spec.
You’re saying this with no context to the conversation being had.
As per my first comment to the same guy, we were talking about PvP survivability and the requirement of a legendary and stat stacking (versa) to suppliment it. Where which it does in fact work.
In a raiding environment, their damage is indeed too low. If you’re in a high end guild that consistently has players parsing over 90%, then yes, you won’t be anywhere near the top of meters. However in an arena environment, where one is prone to being interrupted, controlled and blown up, there are people that have pushed to 2200+ playing frost with little to no issue based off personal skill.
Venruki literally gave up on Frost in PVP. Looking at the 3v3 arena ladder, all I’m seeing are Arc/Fire mages. It wasn’t until page 5 of the 3v3 ladder that I found someone spec’d Frost at 2.2k, which is Duelist. Not a single Glad-level Frost mage to be found. The highest rated players are between 2.6-2.8k. Please tell me more about how Frost “works” in 3’s. It’s not even wanted in RBG’s to guard bases anymore because literally anything can 1v1 a Frost mage now with relative ease.
I was really excited for this expansion, largely because it looked like a frost mage could be competitive again. I hated being pigeonholed into fire, which is a spec I just don’t enjoy playing. Guess it’s time to reroll boomkin.
I can’t decide whether to stick with crafting/upgrading Frost legendaries or reset my Covenant and craft legendaries for Fire… With the way Blizzard handles balancing, they will probably nerf Fire to the ground and buff Frost right as I’ve transitioned to Fire lol.
Blizzard doesn’t take the entire scope of their core gameplay into consideration. This is why you see certain specs out perform others.
Another glaring issue is the new class structure of design and philosophy which is inherently broken and organically creates massive imbalances.
The problem is each spec is a sub class of that class. The other issue is that there are still hybrids classes in game. Shamans have tool kit to account for melee dps, caster dps and healing. They have abilities that overlap each spec which can cause an imbalance.
I also believe the core gameplay for raids and m+ isn’t strong and doesn’t complement the class design. Your class has really no way to counter or overcome NPCs at a class level. Nearly every mechanic has to deal with “lava on the floor” or some sort of status effect.
The only way anything will change is when the scope of the entire class design system is in lieu with the scope of encounter design. Their entire design philosophy is flawed and needs to change.
Im still waiting to craft Legendries which of course messes my mage over. I am hoping that blizzard will see all of this and help out us out. The worse part is I have no fire soul binds! So all that farming for frost just went out the window. Why make Frost so good during prepatch than rip it away from us?! #BuffFrostMages
You must have a ton of soul ash then. Craft a legendary lol. It’s a big boost to your dps. We’re weak enough without intentionally handicapping yourself.
I know the sample size is very small, but it’s still very funny to look at this chart… Frost mage is on a different plane of existence in mythic. The blue bar on bottom is literally behind everything else … the difference is staggering.
The sample size is too small to judge, but it’s still INSANE that blizzard hasn’t buffed them.
Can’t include links in post… I thought you could but guess not.
The fact that there is a 1000 dps, 25% difference between top and bottom specs is terrible for all the underperforming specs.
That’s like adding 2 extra people with no extra cost in a raid with 10 dps. You don’t have to heal those 2 extra people, they don’t add to the bosses health, they are just there to make life easier.
