There are so many threads about frost under-performing. There are logs in raids which show how a frost mage with the same item level as others need to perform at the 90th+ percentile to just be the middle of the pack in dps. We are also doing quite bad in PvP.
Please Blizzard just mention you are at least aware of the issues we have, I would be happy if you said we are working on something, id even accept that you are “happy” with where frost is at the moment so I can re-roll now and not waist time farming for upgrading my M+ lego which is the only content I feel we are just decent in.
…just say something please!

Agreed…I was wondering the same thing.

Problem is any buff to frost when the problem (as usual) is raid design will be something they just have to nerf later.
They create these specs with their ideas of niches they fit, create raids that leave some specs at a serious disadvantage … lather, rinse, repeat.
They can’t balance classes when they leave some classes with kits to deal with everything and others with glaring holes in their gameplay.

What makes you think the problem is raid design? PvP has nothing to do with raid design and Frost Mages need help there too.

Do they? I don’t pvp so I don’t keep up on that.
Yea they are suffering in all aspects of the game right now, sadly

Everything wrong with Frost in PVP can be translated to raid, bar survivability. The biggest issue with Frost in PVP is damage being very lackluster and excruciatingly long cast times on FB. Both of those are problematic in PVE, especially when movement becomes vital, since there is nothing a Frost Mage can do to generate damage while moving (Icelance tickles). Same applies to PVP.
PVP also has a major survivability issue. Most of the match in an arena you’re desperately trying to peel melee off you or LoS a caster. Meanwhile, the moment you’re touched you’re at <50% HP. Come out of LoS to cast onto a Lock/Boomkin/Spriest? Enjoy your row of DoT’s that they didn’t have to cast (Spriest does have to cast VT, but meh), while trying to get off ONE FB.
It’s just bad right now, very bad.

Please help us out here Blizzard. I’ve been playing this Mage since Vanilla and have always enjoyed playing frost.
Fire and arcane are fun like in BFA I loved Fire but it gets old same with arcane. There are a lot of us out here that feel the same way.

I truly hope that blizzard addresses this. Watching how frost mage has struggled to as this expansion has gone on week after week is very disheartening. Especially when you main frost and have sunk all your soul ash into legendary items for an under-performing spec. Due to the competitive nature of trying to run high key mythic dungeons, its getting harder and harder to find a group that will take a frost mage at all; it seems that the lack of performance is well known amongst the population and therefore further perpetuates the problem of forcing mages to play one spec. I’m pretty sure that blizzard doesnt want a class with 3 dps specs to only have 1 viable option (since arcane is also struggling).

I haven’t really had the same experience as frost in PvP.
Yes, when people connect and pop all their CD’s I’ll instantly drop <40%, but if it’s just normal damage, then we have ways to deal with it. Stacking versa, and getting Triune Ward should defs help a lot with how tanky mages are in PvP.
In regards to frost bolt being too long to cast… watch your positioning and with 20%+ haste, it’s not too bad. It’s not mongo faceroll like melee, but it’s not horrendous.

don’t forget about arcane mages too

Its not the raids frost is pretty bad in most content… try pvping as frost it’s horrible besides the horrible proc rate on brainfreeze and fingers they do less damage than a single judgement and frostbolt is so weak it’s like auto attacking.

Wait… so your logic in fixing the spec is to stack a stat and buy a legendary. You basically just said you agree the spec sucks. If you need to compensate with legendaries and mass stat stacking to even be able to compete and the bare minimum that is a sure sign there are definite problems with a spec. I’m pretty sure a 150 ilvl wind walker monk does more damage in pvp than a 200 ilvl frost mage right now.

I’m not here whining about it. I’m making it work.
Others have made frost work as well, not just me.
If you’re an average player, expect below average results. There’s always winners and losers to a patch. Get better.

Tbh i find the mage specs fun though just feels like their legendary powers arnt well eye opening to me i guess when compared with other classes and their powers but i digress do wish blizzard give mages something good as i do have hope in SL that something will come about but right now to me seems hunters and paladins are the way to go if i do plan for rated pvp.

I think the only people who wouldn’t be happy with that are the balance devs, because they’d have to spend 20 minutes changing a number. Players on the other hand would love it as they could play the spec they want to now, and deal with some minor nerfs later in the expansion.
Agreed. With the dozens of Frost posts it seems Arc will fall by the wayside, but it’s worth pointing out that Arc is barely above Frost.

I’m going to add to the disagreeing opinions in regards to this. Frost is doing poorly in normal, even in cleave fights which is their designated niche. These are mostly minimal movement fights, there aren’t going to be many situations in which Frost will be performing better.
As mechanical complexity and need for movement increases, Frosts damage will sink further. Specs that can do lots of damage while moving, Balance, Fire, etc., won’t be impacted nearly as much. Melee will be fine.

You can make it work, just as I am making it work, but I’ve been hitting 90% parces and the dps is still below 40% parces of other specs.
That’s an issue. Frost is very undertuned.
