Please add Race change!

Add paid race change, please!
There are a few legitimate reasons for this. In classic WoW the racial imbalance is absolutely awful. At the time of making my warrior, I had full intention of focusing a ton of time on PvP so I made a Gnome…

The games PvP is a premade farm only, it honestly isn’t fun. I would love to push more damage in PvE but I’m not a Human, I don’t have +5 Mace/Sword skill. This is a MASSIVE disadvantage both for gear priority and glancing blow damage reduction.

The next few things are specifically addressing the issues with all of the comments who are going to say “just re-roll bro.”

The game’s current structure doesn’t allow for a re-roll, Items are RNG and most players in my guild are still waiting on key items. I have BRE, Onslaught, Strikers Mark, LH, 3 piece wrath, Quel’Serrar, Onyxia Tooth Pendant, SGC,… See the theme here? I am very well geared and cannot go back!

You cannot re-roll and reclaim gear that other players need simply because the game doesn’t tell you in the character creation screen (GO HUMAN OR YOU WON’T COMPETE IN DAMAGE)
BTW Human +5 Wep skill = 3% hit and a 30%+ dmg on a glancing hit.

You cannot “Buy” the gear back with DKP and be relevant this late in the game.
You also cannot buy Edgemaster’s Handguards and be relevant…Why?
Because if you use those you give up 1 of your item slots for a ZERO STAT ITEM.

#nochanges… I personally am not a huge fan of this AND it isnt #nochanges anymore is it? Its #somesmallchanges

Im fine re-rolling a character and hunting for my BiS items again, that part is fun, im fine leveling up a new warrior, that part is fun, but I cannot make up the gear I have worked my butt of to get.

I want to race change to blood elf!

Give me $10.

Now, go to the character creation screen. Create a new warrior, any race you want. Now go level it.

I’ll wait for my check.

What if you roll a new toon with the race you want?

Nah, horde got to level/farm on easymode, surrounded by people who will come to their aid within 5 seconds. Alliance wouldn’t even defend each other, in fear of getting zergged and camped.

Horde might as well have had pve mode activated, until they felt like ganking somebody.

Choices are supposed to matter in Classic, down to the race you pick. It sounds to me you knew fill well how powerful the human racials are and still chose gnome.

You can live with your choice or reroll, but I would like choices to continue to matter…being able to swap your race at-will cheapens the choice you make at the character creation screen.

Had no idea at the time, the game didnt list anywhere that weapon skill was as important as it is.

Sounds like an issue of individual behavior. (Anecdotally, it seems to me that Horde comes to the aid of their fellow player being attacked by Alliance a lot more than the Alliance does).

It sucks, I understand. But an uninformed choice is still a choice =(. It was no secret just how powerful weapon skill is in this game, it has been known for over a decade now. I am sure any and every guide would have suggested going human for a warrior simply because of how strong weapon skill is.

That isn’t actually correct. I did research all of the different classes. There was ZERO way to distinguish the difference between private server information from information that came out 15 years ago. (private server stuff is STILL different than Classic WoW and the majority of information pertaining to it changes based on the private server of choice)

And I do agree with you that a choice is a choice, however, the issues at hand with PvP are something that has never been an issue before. Premade spam ISNT a choice. You cant choose to be put into a FFA BG where everyone is just brawling for the win, instead, you get forced into a BG vs a 10 stack 8/10 times. My choice was for PvP so I rolled a gnome, the game however didn’t deliver on a fun PvP system so there was ZERO way to make an “informed” decision about that either.

I’m not asking for something that breaks the game, simply give me the ability to pay for a race change it is that simple. It doesn’t give me an advantage it simply allows me to remove my disadvantage.

Deciding not to join a premade of your own is also a choice you’re making.

The moment you allow people to change their race at-will, then there isn’t a choice anymore. You just pay to have the best racial for your given situation. The choice isnt “gnome or human” it becomes “gnome until i finish a pvp grind and then human.” That no longer is a choice, it is paying money to have the best of both worlds.

This is what I don’t understand. There are so many resources to find premades. On my server we have a general discord, a bracket discord, and multiple discord servers to find premades for AB and WSG. I can’t imagine other people aren’t doing the same on other realms.

No, it isn’t a choice, that’s a forced result. You are mistaken on the difference. I can join a premade and have done so, its mildly entertaining, after 10 games of instant 5 capping in AB or 3-0 in a WSG it loses its fun. You do have a choice to go into a Bg solo you are right about that, but fighting a premade every time?? There is no fun in that. That wasn’t a CHOICE at character select.

Premades completely remove any advantage a racial can have. It’s not a matter of skill anymore. The only chance to beat a premade is with a premade, changing races won’t affect the outcome of that either.

If I want to spend money and change races let me, if want to choose a different race let me. It doesn’t affect anyone else in any way shape or form.

It doesn’t shift PvP balance at all, why? Simple its ONLY PREMADES. A Gnome, Orc, Undead, or Human cant change the outcome because of a racial. Its 100% completely irrelevant when your fighting in PvP. However the race you choose DOES matter when it comes to PvE.

You arent effected by my race in a dungeon its simply for the betterment of myself and my guild.

My complaint isnt about finding a premade, that is actually part of the issue. Racials dont matter in PvP becuase its ONLY PREMADES. It is far to easy to make one.

My point is to let me race change not how to join a Premade.

The moment you allow people to change their race at will, then you remove any and all consequences from the choice they make at the character select screen. Choices not having consequences is antithetical to the Vanilla experience.

It sucks, I know. But it is what we all signed up for.

Why is there a consequence a the character select screen? Ill give you a choice, don’t buy a race change if you don’t want one. Simple right?

As far as “what we all signed up for” that isn’t something anyone person can say. Everyone signed up for different reasons. I love the vanilla experience, I dislike the imbalance. If i had a choice on balance I would also make some changes, the #nochanges idea is gone, they HAVE made changes a ton of changes btw. Punishing a player who signed up for a game with PvP only to have PvP specifically get changed is NOT what I signed up for. Let me change my race.

I do not want to PvP in its current iteration, that’s my choice. I do want to PvE and currently do quite well. There just isn’t a reason for me to be a gnome anymore after Blizzard changed PvP. They didn’t give me a choice when they made those changes.

Because this is Classic WoW. You chose the class that you thought would give you the most busted racial in PvP. And now that you’re done with PvP you want to be a human…which is the exact situation i described earlier on. You don’t get to have the best of both worlds…its tantamount to pay-to-win.

Did anyone sign up for, “I want my Classic experience to be as close to Retail as possible, and to make as much of a fuss as I can unless that happens?”

Because, if anybody has the opinion that any feature that is a part of Retail that isn’t a part of Classic is a “make it or break it” feature, then they should be enjoying Retail, imo.

Note: There is nothing wrong with enjoying Retail.

Void elf?

Give the man a race change, Blizzard.

It isn’t Pay to win, not even close. Signing up to be a gnome for a busted racial? No I would of went horde for that.

You sound like an intelligent individual but you keep dodging the actual reason I want a race change.

I chose to pick a gnome. Game changed PvP. My reason for being Gnome no longer exists. Now im punished for it??

How is that at all Pay-to-Win? Describe to me how changing races is Pay-To-Win.
