Even leaving out the whole blood elf = high elf point. That’s not true of all the ones that haven’t taken the name high elf. SC is kinda weird with the situation with Dalaran and what their first loyalty is, but even giving that to the Alliance. There’s some horde aligned (or at the least anti-alliance) high elves in the game like Captain Brightsun and the Steelweaver guy. And some of the lodges seem to be happy to be independent even if they lean one way.
It’s really simple to just not participate and ignore threads you disagree with THIS much though. Truly.
It’s even easier not to jump in to the middle of something.
Unless you want to explain where that video lists any facts about how many people wanted high elves?
We don’t really need a video when doing a quick google search will give a ton of topics based on the search “playable high elves wow”
Even from a custom search range from 2006-2019
Which proves that a lot of topics were made. Doesn’t prove numbers as there’s no limit to how many threads a person can make.
There’s also as many or more threads complaining about high elf threads.
I mean I’ve made a stance that every single thread in game doesn’t need to be high elves vs belves or “more for void elves-” that are unrelated. I’m not sure what the right way to handle these very specific requests would be aside from going back and necroing the old threads.
It just seems unreasonable to bump threads we don’t want to exist in the first place if we disagree, no? (Like I personally don’t care about this option in game. It doesn’t matter to me.)
Look, I got snarky at someone I have a history with, who has pulled that exact same video as proof of something it’s not proof of. (Number of people supporting high elves)
I’m here because I think void elves are in danger of having their potential for awesome wasted in order to give people, many of whom have expressed disdain for the race as introduced, something they could already play on another faction.
I just made a point that it’s a shame that the people who like the void theme haven’t gotten anything new and I’d prefer if they got more that it be for that. Dr. Femur there then hopped in with a fallacy about popularity and is trying to make it sound like he has evidence backing him up. None of us have that evidence, we don’t have any census either way telling us who is more popular. Only thing I’d say is a safe bet is that all of us on both side of the high elf mess are outnumbered on these forums by people fed up with all our threads.
Either way, the majority of high elves (not blood elves or void elves) we’ve seen are alliance based. Are they not?
A toggle would be nice.
A way to customize Entropic Embrace to handpick one’s desired void effects would be even better (include effects for 0 visual changes for the High Elves out there). Stuff like additional eyes, tentacle/claw arms, starcursed hair or skin, etc…
Could be, and I might have slightly misread the original post. I think I read it as saying all of the high elves, and not just high elves being on the alliance. May have jumped the gun on things due to a mistake I’ve seen before.
I understand that. I’m not too fearful yet though because both blood elves and void elves have gotten (and are getting) options they weren’t meant to have in the first place. Since the “npc customizations” that were going to be added were so popular, they got added.
When they actually get around to the “void” elves, I’m still crossing my fingers that they do get voidier options as well, while they seem to want to please the HE fans crowd for both factions. There’s clear popularity and notes as to why those that called themselves blood elves branched away from the Alliance to begin with, along with the silver covenant who stayed allied to us.
Giving them a simple toggle would be akin to worgen players asking for a transformation toggle (which also, why isn’t that a thing?) I guess I’m just hoping that this doesn’t turn into another one of those times where people feel like they’re being told to shut up for wanting something.
A toggle just feels like the last step in removing them from being void elves.
It goes for both sides. We’ve just got the problem where we’re arguing for two mutually exclusive concepts, so no real way to make both sides happy with it. So that sucks for everyone in that respect. Once they were a thing I felt like the void elves were a pretty neat concept that could be used really well, which hasn’t really happened yet, and it’s a bit of a sore spot that the people who really like the original theme just keep see the race move away from that, and you get worried that that’s all that they’ll get any time soon. And maybe that the void story gets overtaken by a different one that trods on other toes.
And for the post you quoted earlier, I’m just not a fan when people act like they are entitled to something more than others because they feel they’re more important than them for some reason (especially if they exaggerate that reason)
Your last point there is very well felt from this end as well, so I understand that. I don’t think this will be the end for either void or blood elves, though :> but I choose to believe this because I understand that sentiment where nightborne and night elves are concerned, and there’s still a lot of races to be touched on. Many still don’t even have heritage armor.
Don’t give up hope there, but sometimes what you say does come off as sort of belittling to any of the players who want these things. No offense meant in this, just a general statement as how it’s perceived. I might be naïve for thinking this, but I definitely think there’s still plenty to come. They’ve hardly even given void elves lore.
Like I said, I have a history with that poster, and I don’t have the most patience when dealing with him. I’ve had this argument about whether that video proves what he said it does, so I may have been a bit harsh in return. Sorry for getting you in with the splash there.
This thread makes me nostalgic for when people said just give us natural hair and skin tones for Void Elves and we’ll be happy. Guess that wasn’t true.
Void Druids are just about the most lore-breaking thing I have ever heard proposed.
Please stop; you’re making Void Elf players look like the High Elf Karen meme everyone thinks we are.
Anyways, to add to the thread and to keep the thread on topic.
I made the same suggestion a while ago. If you like, I’ll post my ideas here:
SPEAK TO AN NPC:
This idea is that we can speak to an NPC, whether we also have to pay a little gold, either way, but speaking to an NPC to disable the effects of Entropic Embrace. Ofcourse, the NPC will also offer also to those who have it disabled to be enabled. Similar maybe to the EXP guy in Stormwind or Orgrimmar, where you pay 10 gold to stop EXP Gains and 10 gold again to continue EXP Gains.
CUSTOMISATION OF THE RACIAL IN THE CHARACTER CREATION/BARBER SHOP:
Now, this is another idea, and could be a better one than speaking to an NPC, actually giving the option in the Character Creation or the Barber Shop to edit the Entropic Embrace effect. Now, reason why I say better idea, is because then it could give us also the options to maybe make the effect shade a bit more darker or lighter, as well as having the option to have no effects as well.
MAKING IT A TOGGABLE RACIAL
Maybe instead of having the racial a passive proc, make it togable so players can chose to enable it or not. Ofcourse, it would mean a CD of maybe 2 minutes tops and last only for a short amount of time, but this idea is just a suggestion.
I think that is the aim. Or dont you know the new trope about everything is having everyone to be able to be whatever they like and do whatever they want regardless of anything ?
Role playing game is not about playing a role you choose anymore, it is about “Creating Role Game”.
This isn’t what happened in the old topics. People have been asking for several things from the beginning
- Hair colors & skins
- Entrope removal/Glyphes
- Void effect voice removal and new lines
- Race title
- Mounts, banners
The people who actually like how void elves look are the ones requesting more customization options, because they want to actually play them, unlike all the people in this thread posting on their draenei or tauren mains about how much they like the void elf concept or whatever.
If anything part of the problem with Entropic Embrace is that it obscures much of your character’s features by changing your character’s skin to a much darker and more saturated color that you didn’t pick. I don’t care if it only happens in combat–most of the game is combat–and I don’t care if the color is what it is because Blizzard decided that’s what voids look like. I’m not trying to look like an elf-shaped version of the warlock tanking pet.
No other race is expected to be as about something as void elves are expected to be about the Void. Why don’t blood elves have a proc that covers them in blood?
