The issue is that you were presenting something someone else said without checking for validity.
I enjoy watching preach, Bellular, Asmon etc. the fact remains though, that you need to understand that they aren’t always credible. If you parrot the talking points of others who have credibility issues without verifying the authenticity of their claims:
That is being willfully stupid.
So go back and read what I wrote. If you think TBC with it’s 280k players (an estimated less than 10% of retail WoW’s player base) is more successful than retail WoW-you’re willfully stupid.
If you want to make the argument that more people are raiding in TBC than in retail, that argument is far more nuanced and contextual than a simple “yes/No
It is neither fast nor easy when you don’t have any open character slots. I don’t have any, so I can’t make alts.
By being terrible, they gave me all the money I would usually pay them and I’ve spent it on games to occupy me for a while.
They’re tired of being profitable. I agree with them. I’m tired of them being profitable, too. I’ve decided to help them go bankrupt by withdrawing all my financial support. I can only hope that millions of other casuals do the same.
You do understand that SL failed so miserably that Blizzard had to make a statement about the game’s state, right?
The reason why I haven’t answered any of your questions is because I feel like it will go nowhere. I have plenty of grievances about the game that likely won’t satisfy what it is you want to hear. Shadowlands has a lot of solo/outdoor content and none of it is good. The story is garbage, the WQs are drawn out and tedious, and the covenant campaigns, while cool, lack any real replayability. Torghast would be cool, but they ended up tying it to player power for endgame content and has been too balanced (the fun of roguelikes is deliberately breaking systems in your favor) which doesn’t feel rewarding when most players playing in the open world are less concerned with power. I don’t see random world mount drops as content. It’s pointless filler to create some illusion that open world/solo content is rewarding.
So when you and everyone else come to me and tell me “Shadowlands offers plenty of content!”, all I’m really seeing is that, to you, Blizzard has effectively ticked off a box that should therefore satisfy our needs without actually designing the content to be fun or interesting.
In any case, this wasn’t my point to begin with. It was, again, the fact that 9.2.7 has nothing to offer for solo/outdoor players. They could have recycled older zones the same way they did with M+ dungeons, but they couldn’t even do that. The one thing we had was taken away.
The last thing us casuals need is an XP buff, I have to go and turn OFF my XP gains just to finish a story line or expansion, who wants to be 55 one shotting stuff and basically bored playing in a dead zone.
and secondly who in their right mind even enjoys farming the “Borrowed power of the day” endlessly for no reason in retail
That wasn’t even in a reply to you lol, and you’re cutting out all the context before and after that. For context. Thats where I’m talking about the story and quests. If you don’t like cosmic save the whole galaxy universe space and time thing Fantasy opera theme SL tried for. Then yeah. You’re going to hate it.
Now for what you said in this statement. You keep saying theres things you hate about it, but you’ve still yet to tell me or list anything that SL is missing for Solo players that Other xpacks had. Because there isn’t. Theres nothing to complain about for Solo players that everybody else didn’t complain about.
SL has a trash story. its bad. The lore is so bad it retcons and destroys old lore. The lore thats in SL was so bad Blizzard had to make forum posts, and tweets to correct things, and all of those corrections were so half baked they ruined an already bad story even more.
Nobody will defend SL’s lore, but from a content perspective. For Solo players, for stuff the player can do alone, with nobody else. SL has just as much as the other xpacks. Its got more than BFA ever did, and just less class specific storylines that Legion had. Thats it.
Nothing was taken away. You can’t take away something you never had. We’ve never had timewalking world quests. That just sounds like a giant headache and boring. You can go back and do all the old worldquests right now anyway. You want them to be harder? Wear less gear. Bingo Bango. More world quests for you to do solo style.
I am aware, but it’s still my thread and I receive notifications for every response made so
I literally just gave you a list.
You know what SL is missing? Fun. It’s missing fun. You can keep acting like it’s all the same stuff but there have been countless threads on these forums telling you the opposite and a lot of people in this thread alone in agreement. I don’t know how else to paint this picture for you because it’s been articulated very clearly. If you want to continue ignoring that and skewing the actual issue here, go right ahead.
It’s never been about the majority of players being solo/outdoor-focused. It’s never been about getting better gear. It’s just about Blizzard clearly forgetting a certain demographic in their design philosophy for this patch while we still wait months for actual, new content.
I never said we did? It was a suggestion for this very unconventional patch.
Except the only people saying that its not all the same stuff, are the same people who don’t play or progress in the game. Who do world quests, and maybe LFR. So sorta makes your opinion on a game’s fun level a lot less valid when you aren’t playing it.
It’s like saying Chess is stupid, but you’ve never played it. Its an opinion out of ignorance.
Thats really what this Solo player vs the actual playerbase is. An argument of Ignorance and a refusal to accept the reality that there is a bunch to do.
Here is my big issue with your argument. You say. Solo players have no content nothing to do. We give you a list of things you can do, and you ignore it. Shadowlands added Over 60 mounts solo players can farm. Not from raids, Not from Arenas, Not from Achievements.
Your total mount collection is 84. You have all those you could be working towards getting as a solo player From world quests, dailies, and world minibosses in the 3 zones you have to play in right now.
We talked about Battle pets right? Thats a casual thing. Thats something for Solo players to do. You’ve not a single lvl 25 pet. Thats a ton of content right there. Its even got soloable little Pet battle dungeons, and things to do. Hours, days, maybe even weeks of content for you to do right there.
So its hard to take it seriously when you can’t give any actual specifics, and with just a shallow glance into your achievements, and collections its obvious you’ve not even done half of what solo content there is in Shadowlands.
Lmao this is why I chose not to engage with you initially. I literally just gave you a list of the things wrong with the game and you’re still acting like I didn’t give you anything.
This is why it’s so difficult to take people on these forums seriously.
Gee, could it be because it’s not fun? You know, kind of like what I’ve said?
I’m sure someone’s already said it… but fun is subjective.
I’m having enough fun, not in Shadowlands, but doing my own things. Mostly piddling around but I am a collector. I’ve accomplished many of my big ticket goals in Shadowlands, actually.
I’ve gotten my Underlight angler, a plethora of grindy or rare drop mounts, a lot of my dream transmogs have been completed, and I’ve also leveled a few toons I was wanting to get up to a high level.
Funny enough, in Shadowlands I feel I am just in “limbo” waiting for it to be over. It was alright, but it was my least favorite expansion to date.
I have been playing less, but that’s because I am getting older and want more out of my real life and don’t NEED to be playing WoW all night, every night.
But when there are 60+ likes on my thread and a bunch of other threads echoing the same sentiment, I would say that there is a not-so-marginal amount feeling the same way.
