I think we’re going to disagree here.
SL: Tons of quests to find.
No. There is not. Yes, there are quests there I have not done. The Maw is a fine example of quests I haven’t done and have absolutely no urge to do or reason to do for that matter, since I’m not a masochist. I have at least 2 toons in every covenant, just to give you some context of where I’m coming from.
It is barebones. This we’re going to disagree. In all my years of playing I have never been bored. Angry enough to quit for years due to game design choices, yes. Bored, no.
But I have to ask you this: What I have said in anything I’ve posted on this thread that gave you the impression that I wanted better gear than I could get in the world content?
How did you come to this conclusion? Why is this so stuck in your brain that you’re seeing things written that are simply not there? What is your hangup in this?
No where also did I say I did old world content for cosmetics (never use them, SL has the LAZIEST designs to date: change a small color and call it new!) or pets or mounts? (here, waste your time going round and round for the rarest of rare drops to maybe be able to make a mount of a slightly different color!)
As for PvP, how did that come up? PvP requires a lot of time to devote to that sort of play. I’ve done it in far better games than this, but that’s not time I have to devote, nor does it interest me here.
So, I’ll address the last question you asked, even though you still have this false belief that I’m talking about gear here.
I’ll use BFA as a reference as it’s fairly recent:
-
Story: In BFA, there was a story for Alliance and a story for Horde. Yes, there was some overlap, especially when you got to Nazjatar and Mechagon, but even then there were little things to differentiate the two, little stories, NPC interactions. So lots more to do and explore, twice over.
-
More variety. Yes, lots of kill x, fetch that but at least it felt a little changed up and reflected the local flavor (Drustvar comes to mind). There were more and varied WQ, more choices in what to do and lots of side things to do that were interesting and some were fun. Some were grindy, yes, but there was some humor in the design (Going to get that bee mount someday!) SL quests often feel down-right insulting in their design. I actually felt offended by the design choices. I had never felt that before.
-
A sense of being part of things. SL kicked that all out the window and into the lava pit outside.
-
A progressing storyline. I know a lot of people hated BFA and were about as bored with it as I am with SL (though I’m not bored per se, the feeling is more like having overeaten, that feeling that you’ll be sick if you have to eat one more bite). I took BFA at my own pace, which was slightly slower than my pacing through SL as I had less time to play. I got to Nazjatar after the rush intentionally, same with Mechagon and enjoyed the latter quite a bit.
And what you’re accusing me of (wanting gear) is about as fair as if I said all your type does is complain that you work hard for your gear so you can flaunt how much better you are than other players.
So please, just read what I actually wrote rather than see things that aren’t there?
