I’m finally taking the good advice of sticking with one toon as much as I can. In this case, that means taking Elemental to the BGs to get some of the damage-oriented achievements.
But what does Elemental do in BGs aside from nuke? Should I be 50/50 on utility? I’m assuming I should never flag run, but defending a node solo? How do we do there? Feel free to provide any other advice you can offer. And if you have a build you recommend I’m all ears. I usually just look at Murlok and then make small adjustments.
All help is appreciated.
edit: Don’t want to promote youtube channels. Against ToS I think. Go to youtube type in 11.1 elemental shaman pvp guide.
I mean i was going to do that. This is a second information source.
I’d actually love to see some specific guide talk on roles in BG content for ele (all three specs tbh).

The YouTube community is generally anti-PVP, and the ones that cover it are almost all Arena. Occasionally SkillCapped will do some Blitz rankings.
Why is that do you think?
It’s not where the views are
That makes sense. Too bad, BG content and wpvp shenanigans by far my favorite PvP modes.

Perfect your one shot. Get good at using static field totem and projecting it around to pull people into positions to knock them. Arena videos are still very helpful in learning the basics and the tricks. No ele should never sit alone unless they have no rogue then it possible but should still be a last resort
You could list the content creators. I don’t think that is a violation of ToS but correct me if I am wrong by all means.
because I have listed a few at times for people to decide for themselves.
I don’t know much about shamans, but they can be annoying to fight against in battlegrounds, especially if they can combine their damage and utility in a way that impacts the match situationally.
I find that often players would fare better in their unrated random matches if they allowed themselves to be a little more flexible than the rated meta would dictate. In unrated randoms, you usually don’t have an ideal composition, and you sometimes just have to make do and improvise.
One thing I would think about is how to find the good ways/places/situations to use the Static Field totem in each of the different maps. For example, bottleneck spots like the tunnel entrances in Warsong Gulch can provide a good opportunity to peel and disrupt.

Shaman provides incredible utility. With ghost wolf you’re mobile (once you’re out of roots), you’re pretty tanky as a caster and you have a lot of disruption tools in the form of root totems, cap totems, static field, thunderstorm, the unleash shield knockback thing, interrupt on the shortest cd of anyone I think? (purge), hex, etc.
Your role may change depending on the map but you’re an excellent support class since you can do good damage and heal as well. If you’re on a flag capture map you can be useful on both offense or defense, but I generally find defense as a shaman more useful to just buy time for your Flag Carrier.
Both flag maps have levels that you can tstorm/knock people off from, just for one e.g. I’m yet to level my shaman this expansion but I love staying close to another high impact dps (e.g. Warrior, Rogue, Hunter, Mage).
