Player Housing

I am keeping my expectations low, my friend. What I want and what we get probably gunna be wide apart.

I said in another thread that I can already sense the monkey paw starting to twitch.

I am keeping my expectations below the gutter. The faith I have in this company is nearly at zero.

I am here because I like playing. I like some of the people I’ve come to know. Sub fee is nominal for what I get in return.

That said…

This company has to walk across the universe, sideways, uphill in the snow, barefoot, to get me to place even a fraction of a skill point in the trust tree.

ETA: The initial concern / complaint is that they never bothered to inquire with the community. Where was the survey asking the hypothetical, “If we were to have player housing, what features would you want?”

No communication as of yet. Nothing.

“You think you know what you want, but you don’t.” - Blizz, definitely.

The only thing I can say about the survey is that I know Blizz pays someone to read the forums. All the forums. Which is why I’ve always detailed my posts about player housing. I don’t even know how many threads I’ve started or participated in on this forum alone that was simply all about housing.

So I’m hoping they looked and sent some of it up the flag pole. You know, the ones where we say we don’t want FFXIV limits, but we’d love Wildstar. Or that we don’t want garrisons 2.0, but we’d love to be able to do something more like ESO.

I want them to allow player housing in my garrison.

I’d enjoy them to also update the Garrison Guard options.
Or how about those racial building styles that were promised?

Player Housing is something a lot of folks have wanted for a long, long time. But remember folks.

I want complete and utter freedom to build what I want.

Don’t restrict me to this style or that style.

I’m not saying Blizzard won’t give you that. But I am saying Blizzard won’t give you that.
I’d presume we get at the onset a kind of generic-y looking house interior, or maybe two or three models which are race-agnostic.
Then add things over time.

We must have continuity.

This means Horde housing has no chairs what-so-ever.

I’m sure it won’t be perfect but it at least has me interested!

I can’t really say the same for whatever the new features of TWW were (new talent points and third dwarf?)

I am not expecting The Sims and Ark and Minecraft but BETTER, but I’m interested in checking out whatever they come up with, which is a nice change of pace from total apathy toward their output. Maybe it will be a lame affair of mandated human or orc-style architecture where you can do naught by attach trinkets to designated wall hangers in prefab buildings, but even that sounds a little more fun than third dwarf

The greatest crime of all is that Wildhammer dwarves are not a playable race.

You want fourth dwarf?!

I am once again asking for the Quel’dorei and Ogres.

On Earth 2 where Dragon Isles was the first xpac after Vanilla, playable Ogres’ Double Heads racial passive just got nerfed.

I’m asking for many things but first thing is for styles to not be linked to whatever race you’re playing.

Let’s say hypothetically, I was playing a Gnome. Perhaps I want a house that is just a goblin garage with Dwarven metal madness and maybe a touch of Worgen or Elf styling.

Let me choose what I want to choose. Don’t choose for me.

OR I WILL JUST MOVE INTO THE TRAM AND BE HOMELESS AND PLAY WITH THE RATS ALL DAY.

As far as most wanted features goes, other than “let me use all the assets” I really hope they let you have “neighborhoods” rather than the ESO-style of instancing.

Like, I really wanna be able to walk down the street and see Norman in his garage and Rackham writing “wildstar my beloved” in campfires on his front lawn.

In ESO everyone just gets an instance of the same house, sort of like how Garrisons functioned, so you never see what other players are making unless you’re explicitly invited to the instance. I think wandering around a neighborhood full of buildings designed by wra people could be super fun.

FFXIV has non-instanced housing, and while I hope WoW’s has less plot scarcity that is a really cool way to do it. From a cynical angle FFXIV’s style of plot management might appeal to WoW devs because it obliges you to maintain a sub (your land gets freed up if you go inactive IIRC), but I think an instanced model is the most likely outcome given how Garrisons worked.

We need a block to hang out on and play stickball.

all i’m hoping and praying is that it’s better than final fantasy XIV.

if i want to RP a housing crisis, i’ll go outside.

granted i prefer garrisons to final fantasy XIV’s housing because at least i can HAVE a garrison.

Obviously we need a fourth AND a fifth dwarf.

We have Fire, Earth, and Normal Dwarves, now we just need Air and Water Dwarves.

Edit: wait hold on, I forgot how Warcraft’s elemental system worked - five Dwarves is simply not enough. We also need Spirit and Decay Dwarves.

Is PVP housing a thing?

Once a day you have to defend your home from gentrifying developers looking to make it resemble Stormwind.
