Player Housing - Your Wants? Needs? Ideas? Share them here!

WOOHOO!

We got more info on Play Housing!

Blizzard has said that they want to keep hearing the playerbase’s feedback! They’ve been doing a great job with what they’ve shown so far - it looks magnificent. If they’re still trolling for ideas/suggestions, now is our time to share!

Given what we’ve learned, I’m dying to hear what everyone thinks of what’s been shown.

Personally, I think it’d be great to have:
Two new professions: “Timbering” and “Cabinetry” (Or “Woodworking” would also be good, though Cabinetry would be more descript if the profession is entirely focused on making furniture.) It would make the most sense to implement trees throughout the old world, as well as in Khaz Algar, specifically intended for lumberjacks to chop down and process into boards. As to how many species of wood to add - that’s a tricky question; I actually can’t answer.

The existing professions should be able to craft objects related to their own skillsets, obviously - blacksmiths make safes, enchanters make floating books, tailors make tapestries. But I’d also like to see a way for some professions to craft item components that are used by others; maybe a Blacksmith could build the ironwork for a chandelier, but an Alchemist would have to do the glasswork. A Cabineter might have a recipe for an armoire, but a blacksmith has to make the hinges.

I’m also curious to see other sources of furniture. Quest rewards would be obvious; but would it make sense to pepper furniture rewards into older quests? Given that everything is warbound, people who’ve already completed those quests would have the furniture rewards unlocked from the jump. Conversely, this makes going out into the old world more appealing for those who haven’t experienced the content. It would only make sense to have the rewards fit to the content being done, too.

It’s been confirmed that there are going to be “legacy objects” (old models that don’t support the dye system), so adding furniture objects as old-world quest rewards could easily be the best way to dispense them. Skulls on spikes for doing quests through Durotar; voodoo masks for clearing the Echo Isles starting zone; a small pouch of gold dust for doing all the quests in Fargodeep mine. It’d be a great way to implement callbacks to beloved content from expansions past.

Furniture items added as drops from past and present dungeons, raids, and delves would be great too. It’d add some spice to timerunning rewards. There should also be PVP-related furniture items too; either as achievement rewards, purchaseable with honor, or as random drops from strongboxes.

I’m just still laughing at the people that said “it will never happen” and the “garrisons were failed player housing”.

I’d like to have pets wander through the house but also be able to restrict them from certain rooms, or even keep them to a certain room.

I really hope we can have a few mounts hanging out around our house. I would -love- the option to have those mounts outside the house scaled up or down as well as if they have reigns or a saddle to have those removed and off to the side.

Carpentry and Lumberjack professions.

I’d like to see racial player housing in the zone where the race is located in. EX: Dracthyr in Forbidden Reach, Worgen in Gilneas, Blood Elf in Silvermoon City ect, etc, etc.

Giant night elf tree as my house.

NOT the new world tree that’s in the dragon isles

I agree! Love to have my Trolls on the Echo Isles and undead in Brill!

With that said, I want a garden & greenhouse, a koi pond, and a lilbrary

Will I get it? Prolly not

I absolutely love the idea of class-based furniture! It would be such a cool way to really dive into the fantasy of your character. For Priests and Shamans, their home decor could totally reflect their spiritual connections, and each would bring a totally unique vibe to their space. For Priests, their home would be all about reverence and reflection. Picture a prayer room with soft candlelight, filled with holy relics that tie into their culture, creating a devotional atmosphere. There could be an altar for holy rites, votive candles glowing with healing energy, and maybe even a holy font where Priests could bless the space. For Shadow Priests, it could get a bit darker, with mystical braziers or other eerie items that match their shadowy vibe. As for Shamans, their connection to the elements and nature would definitely shine through in their furnishings. Imagine a home filled with totems giving off elemental power. There could be spirit totems or carvings scattered around, showing the shaman’s bond with their guides. Sacred stones arranged in geometric patterns could channel elemental energy, and ritual fires could be burning in certain spots for their connection to the elements. There might also be an altar for ceremonies or gratitude, plus some drums to represent their link to ancestral spirits.
