People have their expectations way, way higher than they should.
I kind of want it to be: to a point obviously. Keep all the vendors and stupid things like that out. However, allow it to be warband accessible: meaning each buildlng on your plot would belong to a different WB character.
Oh my God if they integrated it with the selfie camera how could would that be
Most important would it to be phased or instanced, and not a limited plot situation like FFXIV housing (or Ultima Online for those that may still remember that)
After that, as long as I can have a single or multiple Vulpera cavaran wagons and can do some even if limited customization for the insides and outside area Iâll be happy.
look I could give you a detailed 50 page design document with point by point explanations of what I want player housing to be and do and why, and the game philosophy behind each of those decisions, but at the end of the day itâs simply much easier to say âdonât reinvent the wheel. just copy and paste the features from player housing that we see in FF14, elder scrolls online, or wildstar, to name a few, and people will be happyâ.
this worked very well for the blizzard team when they copied dragonflying from guild wars 2 and it will serve them very well when it comes to player housing.
that said⊠here are some points that I feel are of incredible importance that I will make an exception and call them out specifically:
- I know this should go without saying but you never know with Blizzard⊠the ability to collect furnishings. this could be different styles of beds, windows, lighting, walls/wallpapers, tables, knick knacks, fireplaces, roofs, etc. also special âdisplayâ type furnishings. that can be interacted with and customized. like a weapon rack display to show off four favourite sword or gun. or a full set of armor youâve collected on a mannequin (and you can change the race of the mannequin). or a shield. or other item (as shown in the trailer, with onyxiaâs head mounted to the wall, so this may be dependent on what achievements and feats of strength your character has)
- ability to - with precision - place furnishings and displays anywhere in the home, and ability to nudge and rotate them along the X/Y and Z axis. this is very important. creative players will use this to place things to create stuff the own game developers never intended. such as placing bookcases at different heights (clipping into the ground) to create a bookshelf staircase, a jumping puzzle for other players to challenge themselves with, etc.
- collect furnishings from a variety of in-game activities: sprinkled into both current and legacy dungeons and raids, zones, quest rewards, pvp, crafting recipes, trading post, etc.
- instanced housing available in major cities - a great starter home
- non-instanced housing as well (gold sink, player prestige). inactive housing will go back up for auction after a time. larger homes that you can add additional rooms to and customize the layout of.
- join a cozy neighborhood of other players. you can see their houses and choose whether you want to let people enter your home or not. several locations and community plots to discover. community events and seasonal content. contribute to the town hall and town museum.
i want it to make tradeskills useful to create items you can put in a house.
dont tell me a tailor cant make things like curtains or leatherworkers cant make rugs or smiths cant make some kind of table or workbenchesâŠ
put the craft back in warCRAFT
Top of my list is making enough gold now to pay for housing because Iâm pretty sure it wonât be free. The cost of Warband bank tabs, and that crazy bruto, point to the way of the future.
My primary wish is that it isnât a cash shop quagmire.
The second is that there is free placing and scaling for objects.
Everything else can be improved or adjusted over time - but those are fundamental.
This, I am so worried we might run into another issue of the Garrison. Blizzard (should be) smart enough to learn from their mistakes and give them the love they need to be what they should be.
Though Blizzard would have a killer app if they implemented Housing in the pre-patch to Midnight; theyâd be practically printing money.
Who knows, they actually might, the intro cinematic they have for housing says âYour next adventure, begins at homeâ at the end

Just watched this ESO video. Didnât realise ESO housing used Riftâs flexible placement system. Some beautiful player housing there; makes me want to try it out. Yes, I hope WoW creates this style of housing.
Better have an instanced zone where you can see a lot of houses like in Daoc.
The lots were also limited but they just added more so every person on the server could have a house
Tbh, I think player housing should be relegated to Guild Halls. I think itâs the appropriate compromise for WoW, guilds as a whole need an overhaul badly and I think guild halls would do well to fit that.
New crafting profession: Carpentry
Primary focus is on crafting house structure pieces, furniture, and other player housing objects. May also craft some gear pieces such as shields or staves.
New gathering profession (Maybe): Woodcutting
Focus is on cutting down trees and harvesting wood for use by carpenters and (maybe) scribes (For paper).
Outside of the obvious requests for a Weapon Display Case or Armor Mannequin to show off my preferred armor sets and transmog permutations I want to display (flex on) to my visitors, I want to have a new Secondary Profession added to the game called Carpentry in order to replace the dead First Aid; which would allow for Players to actually build and create their Furniture and Decorations to put up in their houses.
I also want to be able to go into Old Content Zones, Raids, Dungeons, Instances and suddenly find a bunch of the chairs, paintings, tables, shelves, vases, planters, tapestries, chandelabras, lanterns, sconces and otherwise any of the numerous non-interactable art assets found in this game and suddenly see that thereâs a telltale âLootâ sparkle around it: showing that we can take these things to transform them into Furniture for me to take back to my Player Home and after collecting them I can unlock a new schematic to go about making more of that furniture in the Carpentry Profession.
In my humble opinion: the art assets used in Bastion from Shadowlands share a similar aesthetic and color palette to both the Suramar assets from Legion and the Draenei assets from Warlords of Draenor.
Please make this valid through all coming expansions. Like every expansion we get to add a new room or something. would be a shame to see this not be valid after this trilogy.
They have straight up said it will be an ongoing continuously built-upon thing

Player Housing needs to be social from the very beginning. Maybe the idea should be more like a âshared apartmentâ thing then a âmy own houseâ thing, where you still see other people and maybe have your individual room where you can put your mythic raid achievement trophy on a shelf so that other also can see them. Also some shared space that you can decorate would be nice.
Those âshared apartmentâ things could be your guild house or maybe also based on a community. So you choose in which house you want to live.
What about selective instancing? Neighbourhoods instanced such that the house owners are nearby online players. If you are in a guild, instanced houses are those owned by your guildmates. Players could favourite certain players(â houses) to ensure they stayed the same and did not change with the instancing
Whatever the selective algorithm is, its goal should be to ensure a healthy and vibrant neighbourhood
