Petitions are a violation of the forum rules.
I will definitely sign onto this idea as the GM of a non-RP guild. Our thing is pets - collecting and battling. Something like this could help us organize pet-related events like pet battle tournaments.
Someone mentioned SWTOR and their public listings. Iām a long-time player of SWTOR and the ability to list my strongholds as public for players to visit is a nice thing.
I also support this. LotRO has a similar feature to SWTOR where you can have a personal home as well as something larger to support a kinship. I think it is totally doable and I am looking forward to seeing how WoW tackles housing
This is certainly something I would look forward to seeing if it could potentially happen, however Iām just as excited to have my own characterās home.

I give this full-support. Iām a long time player of WoW and a short time player of FFXIV. My partner has a house in FF that they let me decorate. Got a hunger for it. Wanna do it in my preferred MMO and be able to show off to people.
I second this, as someone who has played since Cataclysm and rpād for a bit longer than that. On top of this, however, please donāt pull a SqEnix, and limit the number of houses, leaving many without a home. Make it so that everybody can have their own home, or set it up for their guild, or what have you.
Everybody deserves to ācome homeā after a long day, and this is no different.
Is that the royal āWe,ā are you representing a group of people with their constant and at their request, or are you simply assuming that other people want what you, and likely the very small group of people youāve directly spoken to, want? Nevermind. I know the answerā¦
Guild halls
On behalf of The Silver Covenant guild, we also stand united with the requests here via the leadership of other prominent RP guilds. Roleplayers are always there to support Warcraft, whether or not there is a content drought or a bad storyline. And we would love the opportunity to be online in a space that best promotes roleplay and also customization via housing.
I believe this could be a major change for RP.

Way to miss the entire point lol
Iām on the fence with this one. While in theory showing people open rp spaces available is a good thing - in terms of praticality, I donāt know how itāll work out in real time. Iāve been to plenty of public RP events that just draw trolls and griefers there to annoy peeps for the lulz. Announcing where they can find you is often an invitation to chaos.
Are you guys thinking this system is going to look like a LFG listing where you see people waiting on an invite list? That could also come with its own problems. Not saying Iāve seen some folks blackballed in the RP community, but thereās been some beefs where I wouldnāt doubt players are declined invites on social power play/personal drama terms.
Can you build this idea out more?
Iām pretty sure in SWTOR you were able to kick/ban someone out of your stronghold. So if someone popped into your event and started running around like a troll, you just had to spot the name over their head and put it on your ban list. It worked like the ignore function and they couldnāt get back in.
Iād expect it to have features of:
- open to anyone/everyone
- open to guild members
- open to invite list only
- closed to everyone
And youād set up whichever way you wanted, being able to switch between options. You could also give building privileges to your friends or guild members so if your officers wanted to set up for a specific RP, they could get in and move things around without the housing owner being online.
ā¦ itās housing not PvP. The only thing youāll get is decos from actual PvP content.
This is ambitious. I like it, but as a couple of the other posters said, letās just get preliminary housing on the table first, before we get into entire guild halls or guild taverns with broad design access to multiple players. Itād be really messy to have 25 people with totally different tastes always rearranging stuff. And again, weād see some social pecking order conflicts come up about whoās allowed to do what with the resources. Then you have a jealousy/catering to favorites issue on your hands.
Letās talk more about the posting houses available for RP interaction - as a platform. We donāt know if content inside each house will be instanced into its own shard like garrisons were. So again, we have to be ready for potential griefers. Yes, you can /ignore them but they still have toys to engage that can irritate the group. If /ignore doesnāt kick them out of your space, you tolerate it until logging. I expect the houses to work like garrisons where you have to party up to get your guests in. This will allow /group kick to work for problem peeps. Now, the posting your house for open RP availability might like a LFG listing. Iām not sure how else they could allow players to quickly and efficiently list their places/events for others to peruse. Downside, if it goes like an LFG listing and people get multiple declines, we have a situation where social tensions and snotty whispers, and vengeance declines can circle out of control.
Iām really excited for housing, but Iām also tempering it with some of the issues Iāve seen arise in guilds, and between players individually. Itās fun to have, I hope, hope, hope it doesnāt get abused and messed up for those of us whoāve been waiting so long.
I donāt care, I want some sort of PVP added to itā¦ for ME without PVP the RP aspect is lost.
Itās a house. With decorations. Itās just a collections addition. There is zero gameplay to a house.
Canāt tell if trolling or if you just donāt know what player housing is.
Thatās what I want and I think youāre mixing that up with what YOU want.
You being unable to accept other people wants doesnāt equate to trolling and if you believe it isā¦ I think itād be FAR closer to projecting.
No. Iām explaining what player housing is. You donāt seem to comprehend that. Player housing is similar to transmog collecting. Only we show off that collection in a building.
Please go look into what player housing is in games like ESO or SWTOR.
ā¦ Iām giving you information. Calm down.
