🏠 Player Housing Poll [RESULTS LIVE]

I’d love that. I very much support that idea!

I want Guild castles. This is something that could encourage more people to socialize by having a common castle to call home as well as a common goal for members of a guild to work on. Guildies can help each other farm materials or craft stuff to upgrade their guild castles. At a certain size and level, castles can also have increasing capacity and sizes of rooms for each guildies to personally live in and decorate. Alliance castle can also be attacked as well not only by unique raid bosses but by horde players .

Player housing is a massive waste of development time and money.

We’ve seen this problem in so many, many MMORPG’s over the years: people clamor for it, the company spends a lot of time on it
and a month after it’s introduced, it’s a ghost town.

It’s not a sustainable long-term thing that people care about. It’s been proven time and time again.

I think the Garrisons we already have can just be modified. I mean why not let the lvl of the Garrison go up with the character as it lvls up
would be a lot easier, a lot of players don’t use their Garrisons anymore due to the lvl of the professional crafting they have ect. Its only usable for the Warlords of Draenor. Why not expand the Garrisons with each expansion and lvl with each lvl of the character?

Thank you everyone who participated. To those of you awake at nose bleed o’clock, enjoy browsing the results which are now posted. Greater details from “other” responses forthcoming tomorrow evening.

That’s interesting though not entirely surprising and I’m certain way more than 3.6% of those 200 people actually do WQ.

It’s a good example of forced content.

No, it’s the other way around. The garrisons were instanced and that’s why so many ended up isolated.

Housing, if possible (I don’t make games so Idk) should be accessible to everyone but this can be a warmode thing.

Again, Idk how it would be done or even if it could be done non-instanced but I think it’d be better if it wasn’t.

This is why I wish we had a forum ignore feature.

The garrisons, while I liked them were just too isolating. I think player housing should start small, be accessible to everyone in every sense but not mandatory. It’s something that a player can go for but they don’t have to.

And it can be in several zones/expacs. It’d be cool if something more could be done with garrisons but I lack the imagination as to what it would be.

I posted about this some time back. How the scaling zone would work. Where you have waypoints inside the zone to get out but as time goes on, as players leverage more of the zone more zone becomes available automatically and additional waypoints are added automatically.

Of course it should only expand as players build more content in it. So some areas would become sprawling cities and others smaller hubs.

And building anything should require a lot of gold.

Agree, and it should require a lot of work too.

And decor that you get from the world, dungeons and raids.

This thought suddenly crossed my mind.
Even if housing exists
 how good it can be?
If the houses are varied based on the faction, um horde houses would be
no difference with those in Orgrimmar.
Or
I don’t think Blizz would do this but if it’s varied based on the race, my house would be like one of the houses in Stormwind or Garrison. Can it be nice with current wow graphic
?
I mean, imagine you hang a picture or put a table inside one of your Garrison buildings. Is it pretty? Hm
 idk
 just saying.
Wow’s graphic is not that good with details.

ok this is just going too far. Im staring to think that these results were just made up by you

That’s kind of silly. I don’t normally respond to tin-foil hat posts, but its worth a giggle.

Yes, I created a poll with this many responses, shared only on these forums, gave 9 days or so for folks to participate, took the time to make up random numbers and calculate them, and then took the time to type, update, and format this post with the results at 2:30AM. All part of my master plan to do
 something.

Yes, this is totally my jam fam.

But I do appreciate that you took the time to enjoy the results. I was especially surprised by the number of folks who took the time to type responses to the “other” categories when they could have simply selected a choice and moved on.

Sorry i wasn’t really accusing you of it. It was more of a joke. Great effort though. I;m sure alot of people appreciated you doing all of that

Thank you for that. I literally had to make reminders on my phone to post the results so I wouldn’t forget after so many people took the time to engage with this. I’m honestly very surprised by the results in regards to the virtual shop.

I was so sure that, given the torch and pitchfork nature of the forums, that it would be the exact opposite of how it turned out. I can’t believe folks would actually be okay with virtual shop involvement, even if it made housing a possibility. There wasn’t as much consensus on things I expected there to be. Like, folks were pretty closely split on whether there should be a new profession or not.

personally, i love housing in mmorpgs. star wars galaxies had crazy good housing. where i think the issue arises is having services available from the house, so that the person only need leave their house to get more things for their house that they cant get via services. that was a problem with garrisons.

the idea that people dont mind the virtual shop having housing items is likely tied to the fact that a player house doesnt impact your success as a player. its not a pay to play scheme. it’s a pay to be able to decorate scheme, like a mini game if you will.

I think blizzard is hesitant to put time into player housing because they think garrisons were a failure.

well i enjoyed garrisons but didnt like the fact they destroyed professions as a means of making game currency, and because quests could be done from inside them, people rarely left them. that made the game more of a lobby mmo than a mmorpg. which is why i voted against services being available from inside the house. people should have to leave their house to do banking, buy food/water, use auction house, etc
