Iâd love to see some of those shared.
This would honestly be a great feature to have during content the droughts that we inevitably endure time and time again.
Undoubtedly one of the top requested features in my list as well. Though i may suggest something somewhat bold that should go along with Housing - Professions Overhaul. Since OP suggested those new professions and sub-profession, here are my 2 cents which only revolves around housing and its professions.
General
- All professions are now trainable.
- Primary and secondary grouping have been removed. Instead, you can now chose to master your skills and Specialize up to 3 Professions.
- Specializing: Unlocks exclusive recipes, nodes, perks and titles. (Upon reaching profession thresholds/milestones)
- Unlock the ultimate (rare/legendary) recipes, techniques and project crafts by combining 2 or 3 Specialized Professions!
New Professions
-
Logging: (OPs) Players can go and and gather different types of lumber from every expansion to craft items themed from the expansion their reagents emerged in.
- Specialization: Increases yield and unlocks the collection of rare wood reagents from the world + instances.
-
Construction - A production, building and utility support profession. Major source for housing.
- Specialization: Unlocks rare crafts and projects with the rare woods and stone reagents.
- Sub-Technique: Carpentry - Base technique learned with Construction that uses wood reagents for building structures, furniture and utility equipment.
- Sub-Technique: Masonry - Uses stones for more intricate and decorative structures/walls. (Unlocked via base Mining: Quarrying)
- Sub-Technique: Metalworking - A category for creating metal wall sheets, panels and accents. (Unlocked via Spec Combo: Construction + Blacksmithing)
-
Mining
- Specialization: Increases gathering yield and unlocks collection of rare ores and stones from the world + instances.
- Sub-Technique: Quarrying - Unlocks locations and collection of stone quarries. (Unlocked via base Archaeology)
-
Blacksmithing
- Specialization: Allows item reinforcement, increasing the durability of weapons, chain and plate armor. Unlocks smithâs appearance set project.
- Sub-Technique: Metalworking - A category for creating metal wall sheets, panels and accents. (Unlocked via Spec Combo: Construction + Blacksmithing)
Ok maybe i wrote more than i wanted but i think i got in the zone of what Housing could revolve around with an overhaul to professions.
Who exactly did you poll?
Participants in this forum (General) only.
who the hell voted for warfronts
After seeing the laundry list of questions, very surprised 200 people answered all this just to be summarily ignored.
Nice work OP , iâm not really into player housing myself but it is something that i think should have been added to WoW for quite some time.
If player housing is a single structure how or why would I want to fly inside of it?
I didnât take the poll but if I did I would have. I liked warfronts.
Well the Arathi ones, didnât really care for the Darkshore ones.
You are whats wrong with the game.
Iâll be honest, I wasnât a big fan of garrisons, but a fully customizable plot of land that I can build up and design? One that isnât tied into character progression making me feel forced to progress it?
Yes⌠Yesss⌠YESâŚ

I hope you realize that despite all of the effort you put into this poll, itâs heavily flawed and completely meaningless. It would be thrown out by any reputable community that was trying to replicate your results.
Why? People are widely unhappy with the state of the game. You dangle a new feature that isnât one they already hate and of course they claim they want it.
Next time you do something like this, make your first question: âWhat is your current feeling on the state of the game?â
Add follow-up questions which do not allow people to live in a fantasy land. âWould you be ok with a Raid being cancelled in order for developers to work on Player Housing?â Because letâs be honest, Activision wonât even pay for QC staff on major patches. This feature isnât coming out of thin air and a raid is getting cancelled for them to work on it.
Player housing is a great way to do absolutely nothing, except all by yourself. I donât think people would want if it it meant missing out on real content.
Thatâs not necessarily true. They did not want to make classic servers and flat out gave a clear, resounding âNOOOOOâ many times when asked about it over the years and yet here we are now with a whole plethora of live, supported, healthy classic servers.
I never believe it when they say ânoâ now. Apparantly anything is possible if the demand is high enough.
Another method of acquiring items for house customization that wasnât included in the suggestions are Vendors (kind of obvious but still).
We already have player housing.
Just race change to Vulpera.
Ah, okies. So roughly 1% of the playerbase.
Thanks!
So because some people like something you didnât, theyâre a problem? What?
Was this a poll of forum-users only? I hadnât seen the poll before. My first concern is that it sounds like a convenience sampling survey, instead of random or systematic sampling of the player base.
200 seems like a very low number. I think the results would be much better if the sample size was 5,000 or more players.
Player housing done right is really fun. You can show off achievement items, make your own furniture, set it all up just how YOU want it. In the other games I play there is a HUGE market around player housing and people spend hours and hours and hours on it, and given how blizz tries to keep us playing for their metric (in ways we do NOT like or enjoy) youâd think something like this would be appealing to them.
