I think those pieces were entirely for cosmetic purposes. Still, if player housing were to deliver power to the players, I’m not entirely sure if our definitions of traditional would match.
For all I see fit, player housing could very well be a garrisons 2.0. And if player housing doesn’t give power, its a neat RP feature and nothing more.

Garrisons were awesome, they should just take that idea and let you actually customize it Ala path of exile
What makes POE good, and bad, is that you can customise it to anything you want via the store and workshop. Good that you can customise it however, and choose different plots, but bad because all the good stuff was hidden behind the shop.
Let’s just hope they don’t also do that here and put all the good stuff on the store.

that’s quite a few nickles.
Its gonna be a garrison… in Stormwind/Orgimmar!
I think it’ll start off kind of bare bones, after all it’s a new system, won’t have TOO many options but enough to keep things maybe unique.
I just hope we get grandfathered in with our achievements and such.
“Sells furniture in cash shop for 30 bucks”
I don’t see how people can’t see how housing is going to be its going to be prebuilt instanced homes with hooks to place stuff on anything else I’d be really surprised.
“Why hello there!” Cue a screaming Tauren lady “Well this is definitely not my room, when did I put this cow lady in here?”
I’m just waiting to see what this housing is all about when it hits.
Yeah I know I could dl ptr and check it out when it hit but right now, I barely touch my garrisons as it is.
I have a feelling will be the same if I use the housing at all.
All in alll Idk , going to wait and see what the full deal with it is before deciding if it’s something I’ll be interested in working on.
I want to put a Panda style house in the streets of Suramar City with a sign outside it that says

Something like what LoTRO does would be fine with me.
My mead hall in the hills of the Eastfold in Rohan overlooks Edoras. I have a couple hundred exterior hooks populated with crafting stations, my best attempt to replicate Galadriel’s garden in Lothlorien, a ton of dwarvish and mannish statuary work. The dark wood and thatch exterior of the house gives way to an interior that is completely done up in the styles of Gondor and Umbar. Tons of bright colors, stone and tile floors, intricate rugs, ornate marble and granite furniture with tons of cushions, etc. Nothing anyone who lives in Rohan would have ever seen before.
$90 transmog vendor for your house from the cash shop incoming. $180 AH!
if it has lots of crap to farm around the game, just like transmogs, the casual base is gonna use it and it’ll be just fine.
Half dozen houses around the game world for each faction will be more than enough to start out.
and yeah…put some stuff on the game store too…if one doesnt want to spend $$$ one doesnt have to.
As a longtime Lotro player myself (although i havent played since Spring earlier this year) i can attest to the amazing player housing and decoration system they have, but i would be wary before expecting Blizz to produce anything similar to that.
It would be awesome if they did, but i doubt they will.
Even so, I’d still visit your Rohan house, and you can come to my Dwarven mansion

Nice! I gave up my Erebor mansion when, after years of waiting, the mead hall in Eastfold finally opened up. I had already sprung for a Lyndleby hobbit hole, and I only have enough decorations to make two homes look good, lol.
Next year they’re putting a neighborhood in Rivendell, so at this rate I doubt I’ll ever get back to Erebor.
