I feel that Blizzard is shooting themselves in the foot by not having this system in the game. It’s so popular in other MMOs.
It could also revive professions. For example:
Leather Working - couches
Tailoring - banners
Black Smithing - weapon and armor racks
Jewelry Crafting - chandeliers
Inscription - paintings
Alchemy - lava lamps
Archaeology - sculptures
Herbing - potted plants
Skinning - animal rugs
Mining - rock art

Not to go up to bat for the multi-million dollar company, but being able to get something like this working client-side is different than getting it to work for millions of players simultaneously. They have recently gone on record saying that they aren’t against player housing but the engine makes it very difficult to implement properly.
That said I still hope to God that they can fix it up enough to make it work because dammit I want a cabin in Grizzly Hills.

We’re getting features like cross faction guilds and cross faction for one reason only cause there ain’t enough people left to keep both sides relevant. For whatever reason everyone goes hordeside for endgame. Should they add housing I don’t really care but they could actually put enough work in garrisons to make people happy who want housing. It’s pretty evident less and less people find anything wow offers fun in 2023 no matter what excuse you want to use as sales numbers don’t lie.
The latest thing they said did not mention the “engine.”
Pretty sure that was a rumor started by Bellular or Preach. Can’t remember which one.
Yes, let’s hide in houses irl so we can hide in houses online. Derp.
People have been hiding in their garrison for almost 10 years. What difference would it make?

Lol.
Your wife and friends are lying to you because you’re making them uncomfortable.

True. Player housing didn’t work with garrisons so why try it again.
Garrisons wasn’t player housing so that’s why they should try again.

If they weren’t player housing then how was my garrison my home? Riddle me that!
Your garrison was a furnished apartment and the landlord didn’t allow you customize it.
People want a house they can own and do whatever they want with it.
i think that ship has sailed. its been like 18 years since it was brought up. we are never getting player housing or the dance studio!
There was supposed to be a dance studio?
Right… people have been asking for cross faction guilds for 18 years too but that ship stayed in port.

It didn’t even have personal sleeping quarters for the so-called ‘Commander’…that’s not home or player housing.
Edit: I mean, it was a big ole’ ‘base of operations’ which was cool, but it wasn’t traditional player housing as people who get it, get it.

just because you want to roll out a rug and hang some random color curtains and then afk until auto log out does not mean every other person other than you and 3 others in this thread wants to do that.
people want to play wow. wow is adventure, questing, raiding, dungeons and pvp. they dont want to afk in a house in game. dont you do that enough in rl?
Player housing is 100% optional in other MMOs so just… don’t?
I don’t understand why anyone would be against optional gameplay that would make so many players happy

well if blizzard was to cut content and spend all the time that it would take to create, code and implement player housing for 4 people then you can bet your ______ everything will be tied to it, mounts, pets, toys, titles, cosmetics and achievements (points)
and for anyone that is a collector of any of those 6 things i just mentioned would make it NOT optional.
so why dont they just go to other mmo’s then if player housing is sooo good?
Hi! I’m just curious as to why you assume everyone will just ‘afk in their houses’. You mention that this is a game of adventure, questing, dungeons, etc., but I think you’re failing to see that people would be out doing those very things while trying to acquire items for their houses.
Look at the trading post…it was designed with dozens of activities to perform in order to purchase the items you want. I envision housing to be done the same way.
Is it unreasonable in an RPG that an adventurer might eventually want to rest up in their own cozy little space every now and then? Heck, how many songs have been written about the woes of musicians being constantly on the road?

Neither one of those is Player Housing.
