Player Housing: How to Avoid Garrison Mistake

Keep trade chat out of player housing. Certainly from my garrison experience, players just hung out in their garrisons interacting on trade.

Keep cities social to avoid “wow is dead”

(I understand garrisons had more to them than that but I still believe it would have an impact)

Trade chat isnt wanted or needed in personal phased areas for players. I dont want to see butt achivement jokes or be spammed with boost offers while in there.

People still have tradechat enabled?

Wow, it´s offline for me since years.

That sounds like there would be even less reason to stay at your virtual wow home… the chats are comedy, why would they be removed.

Trade was needed for garrisons to those who called out for daily traders or finding people to do garrison invasions.

I can’t imagine anyone is going to be invading player homes.

Bear instincts

I can imagine bears invading player homes and stealing your stuff.

However, you’ll need to be in town to seek reinforcements.
Trade chat should be kept out, yes.

If not for trade chat, they’ll certainly do it in general chat.

There is no stop from your friendly public advertising market if someone can make gold off of housing accessories.

Eh, it’s not access to trade chat that kept everyone permanently in their Garrisons, it was the fact that you could access ALL vendors, including the AH, could mine and herb without leaving, and lastly you had access to your Mission Table.

You want people to leave their new houses? No Vendors or other services allowed.

As I said there’s more to it than just trade. I really do hope vendors and even the trading post stays away

Man this is really sad news… everyone will just be chillin in their house. Cities would be empty.

Id be okay if blizzard just turned it off by default for the housing but give the players the option to turn it back on while in the housing.

I don’t think so (unless you were being sarcastic lol)…

The only time I’ve invested in player housing are when there’s an impact on my play for doing so.

In new world I had trophies and such and yeah I arranged things to look “homey “ but I never hung out in my home like ever, same in wild star (which btw had one of the better player housing systems imo) the point was I want this for my home because my character gets this buff.

So I hope wows idea is similar. If housing in wow is just cosmetic gimmicks to shut the mouths of people that were crying for years for housing — then I want nothing to do with it.

I hope they take the Wildstar approach too, heck Wildstar was made by ex-Blizz employees so give ‘em a ring and hire them back, and not just make this a one time expansion feature that gets left in the dust like the Ranch and Garrison.

Logs into FF14, sees an ocean of people in Limsa Lominsa
Logs into ESO, still see a lot of folks exploring and questing
Logs in to City of Heroes, A LOT of people still playing

Wow, what a bunch of ghost towns. These cities are so empty, why, if housing wasn’t in any of these, there’d be more people!

Hard disagree. Player housing is already something that will further degade the social interaction in the game and you want to make that worse by preventing communication between players??? Seems kinda counterintuitive to me.

You…you do know that you wouldn’t get more decor in your house if you just sat around it, right?

And I dunno, you’d rather people be shrieking (bad) political hot takes to one-another?

Housing isn’t going to kill socializing, if it did then ESO, SWTOR, FF14, CoH, Rifts, EQ, LOTRO, and DAOC would all be ghost towns.

Honestly, that would be preferable to what happened to my servers trade chat over the last couple years. That is, it completely died. :pensive:

General Chat “Why do people forget about me?”:sob:
