Player housing but explain to me why

See this is where you got the “Hurr Durr” and couldn’t read my statement. MY ARGUEMENT IS NOT OPTIONAL. YOUR ARGUEMENT IS OPTIONAL. ION STATED THAT IT WOULD TAKE IMMENSE RESOURCES AND CUTTING OF OTHER CONTENT TO DO. THE “DREAM” OF PLAYER HOUSING IS ALIVE AS HE SAID. SO BY ANALYSIS, IT WOULD NOT BE OPTIONAL. WHICH IS MY ARGUEMENT. HOLY GOD. Please put the game down and work on your ability to interpret information and evaluate context clues. For christs sake.

Prove it.

Yes, it should be 100% optional because that’s how it’s done in other MMOs.

Ion said back in WoD it would have meant cutting content to give everyone race-themed garrisons. He did not say that’s still the case now. Matter of fact, he said player housing would take several expansions, giving them plenty of time to do it right and not cut content.

This is where reading comprehension is your friend. Sorry you two had a falling out.

This makes no sense and something you pulled out of your rear. Not one time in that interview with Hazel did he say PH would be mandatory. You’re making that up so your argument works but it instead just makes you look silly.

It’s pretty funny that I made you so hurp derp mad that you typed in all caps and was still 100% wrong.

Its a simple inference i was making based on Ion’s interview. It won’t be optional.

So mists was real dumb. And well, i dont particularly care what it is that I am killing. As long as its a boss and drops loot, and I am at least in the top 3 on the damage meter.

I skip all cinematics so i don’t know what you are referring to or it’s relevance here.

Which part of the interview. You keep dodging and avoiding showing where because we know it doesn’t exist.

Sure, sure.

Because the willing suspension of disbelief is severely hampered by literally being homeless as a character in a world after “living” in it for nearly two decades.

Actually it was only to put emphasis on one word, but was to lazy to take caps lock off. But what ever floats your boat.

Do you understand inference? Like my claim was that the resources involved would require it to be mandatory. I am not saying Ion directly said it, but from a business point of view, it would be a waste of time and money if it were 100% optional.

What looks silly is that you can’t interpret statements and make inferences from it. If its not plainly spoken, you can’t compute.

The part i linked. Which I made my infernece from. Lol. You funny dood.

Geniuinely. I haven’t watched a cinematic since Wrath, when I was a teen.

Do you? Because there’s just as much proof that Ion will be adding flying elephants as there is PH would be mandatory.

That’s your assumption. Do you know how much resources go into creating an armor set? Or balancing a battle pet? Creating a raid? You said raiding is the most important part of the game but guess what? It’s not mandatory so your entire “inference” is stupid.

Literally nothing you said proved this. At all.

It’s nice, non-mandatory content that just offers some joy. It can also open doors to more gold farming activities. They could add a new profession that is not power-focused, but focused on player housing, such as woodcutting/carpenter. They could add more raid boss drops from old raids that are decorative pieces for the housing. Housing could be in a few places across the game, adding one or two every 1-2 expansions.

Imagine having a guild hall, or a place to invite friends to play that hearthstone game that is only around for 1 week (lol?). Spending time with a friend/spouse decorating the house. The role-playing aspect of MMORPG would be huge. Being able to place items where you want, not like the Garrison.

Now, this is a lot to undertake, but it would add a lot of fresh air to the game that isn’t just about how to get gear to do raids and M+. There are a ton of players that just mount/pet/achievement hunt or other activities that aren’t raid/dungeons. I get AotC every tier and got +20s in every dungeon this season. I’d love to sit back during these down times between patches and go work on my player housing or doing professions for gold making centered around a new system.

Unfortunately, I have some concerns about how feasible this all is. This game’s engine is 20 years old that has had modifications over the years by so many people. I’m sure it’s a mess. How hard would it be to make a good player housing experience? My guess is it would take a considerable amount of time from the engineers. The artists too to an extent, but a lot of it could probably be re-used assets.

However, I think it’s worth the time investment. Ion I believe said it would take up a raid tier. I think it’d probably be more, but I think it’s worth it for the amount of non-power content it’d add to the game.

Just realized you are from moonguard. It all makes sense now. The proof is in the pudding. Anything Blizz has sunk a bunch of resources into has become mandatory.

Inference. Thats an inference.

If you want the gear it is. Sure you can get tier sets now. But weapons trinkets and the like all drop out of the raid. Sure you can vault it, if you think your luck is that good. Or if you just dont care about your throughput and simply want to complain about mean gatekeeping groups, i guess raiding isnt mandatory.

Like literally my infernece suggests it.

You making things up isn’t factual proof. Claiming “inference” and “suggests” is nowhere near factual proof.

You should be taking classes over spring break, it sounds like you need them.

The game engine can run the Garrisons then it can run Housing …esp if they do it easy way…empty out the Garrisons of all the stuff…leave the walls up and then allow us to place and put in what we want …add in some new drops and that …new recipes for professions …secret stuff to find out in the world like they already do now…that could work…it won’t be all what everyone wants but its a step in right direction if they allow us to redo our Garrisons our way.

Took you long enough. Your entire argument has been based on personally insulting me and I was wondering when you were going to get to this.

Yeah and it was stupid.

No it’s not. Do you even play this game? I can pvp, do mythic+ or buy it from the AH.

And the funny thing is, raiding, pvp, mythic+ pet battles, etc. are not mandatory. All take resources and man hours, some way more than others. But yet, according to your “logic” PH will be mandatory because you said so.

It’s not just that. I figure adding the capability of placing items wherever you want probably isn’t something the engine would handle for players easily. That will need to be developed. There’s details of how it’d all work that probably is full of bugs of 20 years of a spaghetti code engine that takes engineers a while to figure out how to fix or get around.

Heck, look at this latest hearthstone event that is full of bugs. It’s pretty simple and straightforward. Heck, it’s almost a direct clone of the Diablo event, but it’s still buggy. I can’t imagine real player housing not having a ton of bugs/hurdles to get through.

I’m curious, what do you know about the engine for this game? Just it’s age?

Yeah I know just a wild idea I have about those ugly garrisons we have…all I can about this new event that is up they must not have a bloody QA dept …cause it shows over and over they don’t.

Not much, but I am a programmer with a degree in computer science. It’s not as straight forward as that. It’s already been talked about, I think by Ion, about the engine and player housing back in early or mid Shadowlands? If it’s not a feature we’ve had in the last 20 years, it’s probably not a feature the engine could handle out of the box, it would need to be developed. I don’t think that’s a feature used in WoW’s history, but I may be wrong.

I want player housing and I think it should be done, I just suspect it will take too much time and thus the developers don’t want to do it. They should, but I suspect that’s why.

To be fair, they may have a point. Considering the Pristine Artifacts were placed on hooks, Stacks may be limited to hook placement like Old Republic for ease of implementation.

Their comments weren’t so much about the engine as they were about time commitment to such a huge project.
