Because if it comes down to millions of gold, and trying to get people to buy WoWtokens and being for the elite AH farmers only, it’ll be awful.
I never make gold in this game, everything I do in the game has to be something fun and stuff I want to do. WoW isn’t a job, and I refuse to play it like a job or real life where you have to grind for gold. Everything I enjoy (dungeons and raids) don’t really make gold. It’s why I have not and do not touch professions(zzzzz)
I mean, what do you do? I mainly do world content and delves and have been steadily making money, just crafting stuff for myself and occasionally selling trade goods that drop and I don’t need.
Blizzard will almost certainly turn player housing into a micro transaction and questing hub in order to fully enjoy it so that is why I do not want it in WoW and never have. It will be like garrisons but with micro transactions added in.
If all you do is m+ and raids, you’ll be broke. But world quests giving 800+ gold, herbs and ore still sell like hotcakes, bloody pools are an absolute gold mine (280k gold made this expac off slum sharks alone), BoEs still selling for hundreds of gold…
I honestly don’t know how every player doesn’t have at least 100k just lying around from playing.
Im curious what you actually do when you play.
I make 10-20k a day minimum just doing dailies and flying around. I’ve probably done close to a mil since launch day.
Is all of your gold made from just the vendors or what?
… play the game? If you are engaging in content where you have to spend gold on “repairs for every death”, that indicates that you are engaging in endgame activities. So do some world quests, do some delves, sell some greens, virtually do anything and you’ll make gold.
If you are playing the game in an environment where your gear takes damage and you can die, you are engaging in the game in an area where you can generate gold one way or another (quests, mobs, world quests, transmog runs, whatever) … so just play the game.
Housing is only for those who can afford it. It does make sense to have cheaper housing in less desirable areas of the game; if you are poor feel free to make your home in Blade’s Edge mountain or some other low cost / low desire area. Those of us who have higher wealth do not want our homes to be devalued by living next to poors.
