I have never thought of our Garrisons to be any sort of housing.
I seriously doubt it was implemented to be housing of any form.
To be fair, i haven’t seen a “high” demand for this until about mid SL. At least not high enough to actually start considering implementing it
The eggs aren’t toys. It’s an object of free placement and stays there until someone else picks it up. I’ve placed them in all sorts of wacky spots in the inns.
No idea what you’re talking about. Free placement of objects— not toys— is already in the game.
Or they can go with a hook system, which is also already in the game.
Or, like they said…
The toolset should be easy enough for someone with no 3D experience to be comfortable with and use successfully, but it should also be powerful enough that players can surprise us with their creations or drill down to get the tiniest details just right.
New tech is added all the time to this game. It’s not unlimited in what they can do, but it’s also not so narrow as you claim.
You seriously underestimate the level of “take my money”.
Because they put TOO MUCH into garrisons. You quite literally never had to leave. You could build an ah. All your prof stuff was there. There was a mine, a garden, a pond.
You didn’t really have a reason to leave other than for quick dailies.
This, they aren’t doing any of that as far as I’m aware.
Honestly?
I think it’s far too early for either side, whether to say it’s going to be a star hit — or a tremendous failure.
But ultimately?
There’s going to be people that like it one way or another, despite whatever it’s lacking or could potentially do better – and the thing is, given this isn’t necessarily an “expansion-only” thing like Garrison’s were — They can always add more to it as they go on
Now
With that all being said …
Other games have implemented player-housing and done rather well with it — So Blizzard will have quite a bit of source material to learn from, be inspired by and refine their work into their own game of WoW towards bringing hopefully the best or at the very least the better side, of results
That one I found embedded in the asbestos roof…
That was you.
When was this ever a situation?
Wildstar’s housing was incredible. It was everything Garrisons SHOULD’VE been.
It’s a situation that exists only when someone or something is attempting to gaslight a group of people.

Id say many people dont get how “what they want” may be a genuinely bad idea.
I dunno. I think we may disagree on this one. Every mmo that I’ve played that had player housing. Player housing was one of the parts I really liked. WoW might be the one that breaks that streak, but I think it’s just a feature I really like.
We see it all the time in politics.
The track record of that phrase hasn’t been good.
Also I have played FFXIV, I know what player housing is like.
Player housing does nothing for me. I don’t want it. I don’t understand the appeal.
The trick to every situation in life and actually enjoying everything that comes your way:
“Leave all your pre-conceived notions out of it”.
Unfortunately doesn’t work with hangovers, so I prefer to just trust my preconceived notions and avoid them.
Those people do want player housing, but it has to be the player housing they came up with in their head.
A preconceived notion is not the same as knowing you will be suffering the next day I enjoy every Star Wars and Marvel movie I see, because I go into it for the enjoyment, and not as a die hard fan. When your head is shoved so far up the Lore that you cannot see ANYTHING being different, that is a problem LOL. Just like the WoW movie in 2016. I sat. I watched. I liked. It was a WoW movie, not a non-fiction lore accurate piece of cinema.
Most other mmos that have gained traction over the years have player housing and don’t really seem to suffer at all for it. Your examples were not true player housing and never were if we are being honest. Garrison certainly did test the waters a bit, but they also doubled as a capital since we never got one in WoD. So that was the problem there. Class Halls never pretended to be player housing.
I am generally all for caution on big promises but they have had a pretty goo track record these last two expacs on delivering big features. I am willing to look forward to this one too. Worst thing that happens is I dont like it so I never use it.
