What are my security options? " Get off My Lawn!" sign? Maybe a pet hungry hydra? Can the doorbell make a trap door open under the welcome mat?
Stop trying to yuck my yum lady!!
I’d like to have a couple of signs with the words “Don’t Open” and “Dead Inside” permanently displayed outside my front door.
get off the forums, Ion. we see right through your lies.
Beware of dog. Someone walks in and gets mauled by your pet.
Them: “But it was a bear!”
Me: “I know. I lied.”
Trespassers will be shot. Probably more than once due to auto-shot.
Okay that’s nice. Thank you for telling me what I want and don’t want. Clearly I am wrong and you are right.
Stupidity aside. Yes I want housing, glad its coming but not glad that its not coming in the way I envisioned it of course. I wanted to choose any zone. Now I am going to be fighting other players for large plots of land until a new ward is instanced in(which likely won’t be instantaneous) this sucks of course. Oh, and people seem to forget yes the claim is “everyone gets a house” the claim is not “everyone gets a house of their preferred size”. So if anyone was even expecting to have an actual choice then I have some extremely bad news for you. All the biggest houses will go to the people who have gold and it will be unfair no matter what.
It’s like real life all over again.
Why do people insist on telling other people what they want and don’t want.
Especially when there’s excitement around something. Can we just not?
If it turns out bad, I promise the excited people will be the first to know.
It’s called gaslighting. Well, a form of it anyway.
No, that’s not what gaslighting really is.
Am I making you question your own sanity? Am I taking away your power of reasoning? I don’t think I am.
This is more like “People are amped up for it and are saying that other games did it well and expect Blizzard to do it just as well, but will probably be disappointed in what they get”.
That’s what I meant when I typed “You think you want it, but you don’t” because unlike other games, features in this game are (for the most part) not up to par and leave the players asking what went wrong.
Trying to tell someone what they actually think is an attempt to make them doubt themselves and how much they can trust their own perspective. “You think you do, but you don’t” is exactly that.
If you meant “be careful what you wish for because you’ll get a crappy version of it” then you should have said that. You knew what you were doing when you used the exact phrase Blizzard was viciously criticized for.
While I mostly share your skepticism, Holly has a history with MMO housing and I really like her infectious enthusiasm.
I still expect Housing 1.0 to be buggy and probably a bit underbaked, but I’m going to remain cautiously optimistic on this one given who’s leading the charge.
I think a good example would be:
“Oh hey, I would love a live action remake of Minecraft! It would be awesome”
Then it releases, and people go: “What in the fresh heck is this?! We didn’t want THIS”.
That’s kind of what I meant when I said “You think you do, but you don’t”. Could I have worded it better or used an alternative? Maybe, but as of now or a few posts ago, it’s being blown out of proportion and the victim complexes are coming out.
To be charitable here, I think people are just really excited for once and their ideas are getting a bit ahead of reality.
As an evergreen feature, we’re going to see housing expand in huge ways over the years. So far, honestly, it looks really promising.
OP name reminds me of that one time when the guy had his foot medically amputated then cooked it and made it into tacos which he shared with his friends.
Oh. On topic, um. They ate the foot tacos in the backyard of his house. Will player houses have back yards?
I mean
You probably could stand to be a little bit.
Never heard of that story, but seems interesting.
swats down curiosity
No Feet, bad Feet!
I have what I consider very realistic expectations for WoW player housing. I’ve seen some threads where people talk about it and it’s clear to me that they have expectations somewhere up in the stratosphere.
I mean, I’m super into the detailed player housing available in modded Skyrim, and WoW is not going to be that. It just will. not. be that.
What I’m expecting is a hearthstone, a mailbox, an inventory access of some sort, a barbershop mirror, and a few ways to customize on par with the options you’d get from a mobile game. That’s all I’m expecting, and if the bar goes higher, I’ll be thrilled.
The MoP farm was this close to being player housing (much closer than garrisons ever got), and after seeing the videos that show the Undermine apartment, I feel like that’s precisely what we’re going to get…the little MoP house with Goblin paper, and a few things we can click on.
I anticipate that nothing more complex than this will be offered, so if they manage that much, I will be pleased with it.
It will be actual real estate that our character owns in the game, and it’s long overdue. This Night Elf has saved the world many times and is on a first name basis with the High King of Stormwind. Genn Greymane knows her name. Tyrande has given her special honors, and Alleria Windrunner is her friend. It’s ridiculous that this woman does not have a home.
