Hmm… That almost exactly describes my experience in the WoD expansion. With the difference being that the drop off happened about 6 months in. It was like a switch got flipped overnight.

This guild which usually had around 30 to 40 people online on the weekend afternoons went to just a few folks every now and then. The big rolling Horde guild I was a part off dropped off even more precipitously. None of the social/family guilds came back.

So from WoD up until SL I was pretty much solo play only.

Yup. Single player content. Once it’s solved it’s just a chore and they went over the top on incentivizing it.

But once you’ve run the course on those you got.

Normal raids which aren’t that bad…

But OMG M+…

Mist’s, probably one of the most approachable dungeons in the rotation and it sill has Mistweaver.

With a god damn logic puzzle in the middle of the fight where you need to simultaneously see 4 symbols, with three binary traits, and figure which is the one that doesn’t belong.

Which are hard to get in a single camera view but you got to do this while the boss is targeting you from off screen with a one shot blast, a wolf could be creeping up on you which will freeze you and make sure you get hit by that blast, and this week, an affix that adds some gigantic spawning object which shoots a giant purple beam of distraction across the map to spawn an additional add. ( Which is surprisingly more impactful then the affix from the previous two weeks. )

You get one person in your group that’s a step slow with this overwhelming cognitive and visual overload and it’s a bricked key.

Now you understand why key holders gate their keys so that they wont get scrubs.

You are just talking about Mist. How about Grim Batol, Siege of Boralus and Necrotic Wake?

Btw, players cheat on Mist by using an addon to solve puzzles in an instant.

I agree except for the above part. I never think of the game makers as lazy.

I think instead that they’ve been given more duties than perhaps they can or should even handle besides their original jobs.
I could be wrong, I don’t work there.

Are you sure about that?

I only ask because historically gear usually climbs way higher if you run m+/m raids.
Way higher.

The formula is working becoz WoW survived for 20 years.

You are bored becoz you refuse to do its Pillar content… you ran out of things to do. And it would be the same for you every expansion. If you are unhappy, have you ever felt that maybe you are in a wrong game?

That doesn’t sound fun at all. Not at all.

I’m with on you that. It’s totally reasonable to set expectations and standards on content like this.

Don’t you have to enter in the symbols for that addon… Unless it just marks the target for you it’s way quicker to figure it out. The problem is having to scan the targets. Healer I run with uses it and I can beat her most of the time.

At any rate, the tank which was doing an incredibly good job up to this boss just couldn’t find the right add quick enough. So they stay at the wrong add or are slow getting to the right one and suddenly the boss is way off in everyone’s peripheral vision, so if your focusing on running away from the fox or moving to the add the boss is lining up on you with it’s one shot and you don’t see it.

Just too many things going on at once over too big of an area. It’s not fun, it unnecessarily stressful and leads to bad gimmicky deaths and wipes.

I never understand why people are worried about this. Who cares if a person is “casual.” You should still be able to enjoy group content as long as you don’t play like a potato.

But yeah, game feels like fewer people are playing for sure. Not that that’s surprising.

“becoz”

WoW is completely different now than it was just a few expansions ago. Way too formulaic now, and the people who are designing that formula don’t play the game. A lot of them were still in diapers when the game originally released.

I don’t think the employees workinh on the game are lazy but the systems they implemented are. M+, delve tiers, rotating dailies. It’s all boring, repetitive drivel designed to keep players busy but I think this time, with the abysmal dungeon design and half baked delve system we figured out how boring the game actually is.

I buy every expansion to try it out. I hit max level on 2 toons and quit part way thru my 3rd. I did all the end game content and really tried to like it for 5 weeks before I dropped. Thematically and game loop wise it was just not fun.

I’ll be back to try the next one.

That explains all the tents outside of Stormwind.

It’s boring to players who has no goal. They’re running on random direction just to find walls then face other direction, another wall… all walls. They dont have a goal of breaking the Wall.

Look at those who wants to have KSM Keystone Master (2000 M Rating). That’s a goal. Yeah, there are obstructions or walls on every key level. You get gear upgrades to break every obstruction along your path.

Not just KSM, there’s AoTC (Ahead of the Curve)… just beating the Final Boss of Heroic Raid. There’s also Gladiator…Arena Ratings.

And there’s tons of Mounts to collect. You work for them… earn them. This is not a game of freebies.

This is a game of Grind. If Grind is not your game, you are in a wrong game.

God knows why they decided to pick handfuls of dungeons with gimmicks no one cares to do.

Mists is a horrible offender for this one, and finding the spies is just annoying af

Problem is the game isn’t inspiring people to grind these things.

I have to agree that the formula is becoming a bit thin. Every season being eight dungeons, a 8-10 boss raid and a world boss, just with different coats of paint, cant last forever.

Really? I just heard Gen Z cryings. That’s why I cant make my Daughter, nephews, their BF and GF to play WoW. Becoz they have the same issue with WoW… it’s too GRINDY. No motivation to grind. Dont have time for it.

Ask a Raider, what inspires them to get their AoTC? Why do they want to kill Queen Ansurek in Heroic Raid?

Ask a Mythic+ player, what inspires them to get KSM or KSH? Why do they want to beat Grim Batol, Necrotic Wake, Siege of Boralus at M+7 and above?

Ask an Arena Player, what inspires them to get Gladiator Ratings?

It is just the FUN to face those challenges. Fun in Dungeons. Fun in Raids. Fun in PvP. That’s WoW.

In WoW, we grind for Gear… Grind for Valorstone, Grind for Crests, Grind for the Vault… with an objective of getting Better Gear. Where we would use those Better Gear? To beat Dungeons, beat Raids and kill players in PvP.
