The game seems to be in a weird spot this expansion. For myself I’m finding myself playing alts far earlier than normal. While I’ve actually been having fun doing so, I’m getting to a point where I want to grind my main again. But this season feels dramatically different than previous seasons. Not only is gear dramatically harder to obtain but the fights don’t feel as enjoyable or fulfilling. Most of the time I find myself just extraordinarily stressed out.
I’m hearing even worse stories from healers who can barely keep up with the damage being pumped out. Just one mistake from a DPS and you get so behind someone’s probably going to die. The few friends I have that still play are already bordering on quitting this expansion. Normally it at least takes them 6 months or so to quit but this time it hasn’t even been 6 weeks.
Delves were supposed to be an alternative to traditional gearing but suddenly they’ve started to feel more like choreghast again. I’m not sure where to go from here, but I know something is going to need to change because I’m already seeing the starts of a Player Exodus.
And before you call me some filthy casual know that I have Keystone Master achievements from many of the last several seasons. This season is different. I can barely think about doing a 10 let alone a 15.
My guildies and friends seem to be super happy with the expansion, a lot of them are relieved they can finally ditch the M+ scene and just do Delves to gear up
No one likes any of the nonsense surrounding io scores and not being able to even access mythics. I thought the braggart that infest the mythic+ crowd enjoyed timed content.
Instead, that crowd wants delves nerfed to force players back into getting belittled by juvenile 35-year-olds to ‘get gud’.
I quit week 5. Most of my friends are done as well. It just wasn’t fun end game. Blizzard is going to need to make some major changes and I don’t mean adding something like delves. The fundamental gameplay loop of end game has been the same since BFA. 8 dungeons, 4 zones, 1 raid, a world boss and M+ season. It’s boring and lazy.
Inept apathy has destroyed wow. You cannot keep nerfing and buffing on an almost daily basis with 3 day maintenances and not have your subscribers just say screwthat.
I’d argue corporate greed has played a larger role, i think most of the devs are probably just doing the best they can with their assigned staff and budget levels, it’s the corporate bean-counters that come in, slash staff levels and push the remaining people to deliver the same amount of engagement levels with less actual content, oh… and throw some more store mounts into the mix too!
Lol? Nothing has changed in how you obtain gear from raids, or M+. In fact, there’s even been the addition of a whole new gearing path in Delves, which has been an even easier path to gear through than the M+ loot piñata. Gearing is faster than ever until you want Mythic raid quality loot, and that portion remains unchanged.
Your probably right. The end result is inept and apathetic developers who burnout because they know they could have done much better if the beancounters stayed away.
I am a casual with a 592 ilvl just from doing Delves, Weeklies, WQs, dailies and more. I can only imagine how high my gear would be if I was in a rush like everyone else. We have 23 more months in this expansion. The funny part in ALL of this, is while a ton of people are grinding M+ for the ultimate raid gear, my pre-patch gear will be 10 points higher and I will have taken my time in this expac and enjoyed myself. Sounds like a lot of pressure for throw away gear in 23 months.
I play 4 characters in TWW and I’m in 4 different medium sized guild. All 4 of those guild were really active until last week. Those 4 guilds with around 25-30 people always online are now completely dead, it’s good if I see 3-4 people online at anytime. Never in my history of WoW has an expansion being this dead that early. Let’s not talk about my friend list, usually there’s like 10+ people always online running keys/raiding, now it’s good if there’s 3 people playing.
Probably a lot of factor are contributing to this exodus of players, but it’s not looking good if we’re stuck in this underground half-baked expansion for the next 1.5 years minimum.
I’m now back on wow vanilla hardcore and hoping for a fresh vanilla soon!
Hello, I see the replied to the thread. This would make sense if it wasn’t for the fact that the WoW development team is probably the largest, best funded MMO development team on the planet, haha!
And not much to them at that. Hopefully we will get some more stuff to do in the zones eventually in a future patch. The Dragonflight weeklies they added later in that expansion helped make the open world livelier. Wasn’t the best way to gear up, but it helped a fresh level capped character get a decent starter set, and the vendors made it so much better., than relying totally on rng instanced content loot drops.
Can’t say I’m noticing an exodus of players (at least from my own/personal observations)… I am noticing the bugs and glitches though, and some of them are fairly concerning
