Playable Nagas, Ogres are long overdue and it's time we stop pretending they are not

While I have been admittedly content with the races that have been implemented so far, and even satisfied with our array of allied races: We seriously need to band together to make sure the pair of the two oldest races in this games history so woefully not represented get pushed ahead with firey rancor and support.

I hear you, Vrykul players and I hear you Murloc lovers. But they genuinely are your elders, and if you want ANY hope of your own race to be represented you should be advocating for the development of these two races that have supposedly puzzled the developers for fifteen years. If we apply further pressure and get them to prove they aren’t incompetent and get them made, it means we can potentially add ANYTHING as playable.

Rally and support your elders.

Ogres, yes. Naga? Ehhh. This is coming from someone who would be several hundred dollars poorer if they were added

Naga for the Alliance.

Ogres of the Horde.

Should have happened years ago.

Why? I don’t want either.

I was genuinely hoping during the Battle of Azeroth that the burning of Teldrassil would have been taken advantage of by Azshara to cement a blood debt in similarity to what the Sin’dorei had occur to them in Warcraft III. I have a lot of criticism about the story in WoW in modern times, but I would do everything to go back and rewrite BFA to put OUR QUEEN, HER MAJESTY in the proper spot that the writing team was so highly focused on making sure Sylvanas fulfilled.

She is an incredibly underutilized asset that I genuinely lack faith in the writing team in properly developing. I think its about time that they buckle and get guest writers and collaborators like Warhammer 40k’s Black Library does to bring true talent to the team and expand upon the lore Metzen set up.

Biggest flop of The War Within announcement at Blizzcon was Earthen Dwarves.

Are you kidding me?

There is no possible way that anyone can convince me this is better than imaging if Ogres/Vrykul were announced instead.

Heck. This expansion might even be exciting…

I still haven’t abandoned my desire to see playable Sethrak. Seeing them get a Heart of Azeroth animation and nothing come of it was such a gut-punch.

Am I the only one who hates the idea of playable ogres? I don’t see the appeal.

Don’t get me wrong, I genuinely want Sethrak as well. But I have always wanted Naga as the first race with scales made playable, and unfortunately that dream was shattered this expansion. Now I’m just wanting to see them become playable at all.

I hate the idea of playable elves, but I don’t hold that against people that love them.

It really bothers me that all the races of the Warcraft 2 Alliance are playable and only half the Horde races are playable (missing OGRES and the Forest Trolls… both who have tribes in the existing Horde)

I’m just imagining how awful it would be to play with them.

Imagine raiding with 4 ogre melee and trying to see stuff still.

To be fair the Duskwallow ogres are pretty tame in size and are hardly larger than a Tauren. If we of course use the AU variant, we can just keep them Tauren sized at most.

With the new way blozzard is pumping out content, putting less effort into everything for a bare minimium on what can be considered a n expansion. It wont happen.

Reskins allied race is an expansion feature now.

Ive wanted amani for a while now but if they do it i guarantee it wont be the bulky trolls inside just skinny trolls with 5 green skins and still no beards.

I assure you theres more people who would play stupid dumb loveable brutes over the fat humans we have. God, KT need an overhaul/expansion as well now that I think about it. They really should have burly pirate guys and lanky sea swillers as well as their currently ‘burly’ (hardly the word i’d use for them) aesthetic

I’m not really sure why Naga would join a faction though. They are fanatical loyalists to Queen Azshara and twisted by the old gods. The closest thing we got to friendly Naga were those that joined Illidan, presumably because the enemies of Illidan were also the nagas’ enemies (the Lich King, the Legion, etc.).

As nice as having them may be, look at the Drakthyr.

They just don’t have the tech to stretch and shape all of the potential armor combinations that people would want to use. We’re rolling into 20 years of this game trying to modernize.

That would require competent writing on Blizzards team, but its not out of the rules of exception. You don’t NEED to redeem Azshara. They just need to turn her into a true tense relation that allows both the Horde and Alliance to begrudgingly accept that having the equivalent of a scaled arcane nuke on their side and the vast underwater kingdoms as support to work.

Hell, the constant tug and pull of political intrigue and powerplays would be neat little side stories in and of themselves, especially if it culminates in Azshara NOT being killed and just being utilized with begrudging acceptance.

See previous comments about my dislikes on BFA’s story handling.

I’ll take em’ both, thanks!

I don’t see many playing them but it would make more sense than most of the races the Horde has gotten over the years.

Admittedly I’d roll an Ogre Magi to make DOTA 2 macros for raids.
