Seeing the Djaradin helped me realize, it’s not often in fantasy you see a polynesian inspired culture all that often.
Sure we have islanders, they are Jamaican (Darkspear trolls only, Zandalar is on an island but they are inspired by indigenous South American and African cultures, which is not the island vibe) and British (Kul’Tirans are some sort of British and Dwarves are Scottish, not Irish, which make them part of the English isles). Goblins could have been islandy, but they are New Yorkers instead. This could be an opportunity to have a polynesian inspired playable race.
Hawaiians and Samoans can be really big fellas and gals, revere the volcanoes as well as the Ocean. All in all, they are the irl counterpart to Scandinavians, which WoW has in the form of Vrykul.
Anybody else interested in playable Djaradin, or a polynesian inspired race?

Looking forward to see if the island Earthen from the next expansion are still just “lol dwarves” or something more interesting.

Obviously you’ve never heard of the Ulster Scot Irish. Wars have started for less.

On paper, the appeal of Earthen would be “automaton discovers independence,” but it seems like these particular Earthen are thousands of years of convergent Dwarven-cultural evolution removed from that plot hook.
So I don’t see what sets them apart, other than their literal stony look.
My prediction is that they’ll be a 1:1 analogue of Wildhammer Dwarves, while Wildhammers remain ironically unplayable.

I’m not certain any playable race can be well represented while DEI still has a major influence (because everything just mandatorily becomes a melting pot everywhere and no one is unique anymore because being unique is such a statistically common thing).

There’s already Wildhammer customization options from the barbershop. Other than tattoos and feathers there’s nothing else to distinguish between Ironforge dwarves.
