Very nice! Love that accent it gives.
Thank you! I do as well.
I couldn’t come up with anything beyond these two options. I looked at the architecture around bastion to see if I could create some designs referencing that, but thought they would look too Lightforged in the end. I don’t know, perhaps I will look into more later; moving on for now.
Ok, hear me out… instead of having the actual covenant races as playable (since they’re pretty much supposed to protect and do stuff specifically in the shadowlands), why not make their assistants playable?
For example, the Stoneborn from revendreth, Stewards from Bastian, Maldraxxi (Big undead dudes without faces) from Maldraxxus and the Fauns or Vorkai (centaurs and satyrs) from Ardenweald.
Now this all sounds like a bit of a stretch, but the idea could be that the covenants sent some of their forces to aid Azeroth without abandoning the shadowlands themselves. The gear and models may also be a bit pushy, but maybe some new fresh models would spice the game up a bit and excite people again. Another solution could be, similar to the upcoming dracthyr, that they get premade armor customization. Now this would mean that you cannot really transmog with these races, but maybe they can have enough customization for it to be satisfying enough! The maldraxxi could have amazing helmet customization as it is a big part of their identity, for example.
This thread is a dream that’s never happening. Blizzard was never put the work in for their gear, complete animations, etc.
Like i Said before you are making me want to to play a Venthyr
can only dream, maybe we will be pleasantly surprised for once?
Love this idea! With Dragonflight coming out it’ll likely be a few years at least before they could make smt like this happen, since it’s a whole different theme now. But it’s still an awesome idea!
During Shadowlands i really wanted to play as a Kyrian.
I actually remember that i imagined a way to even make their ascension proces a part of their leveling : Just like an allied race would unlock their heritage armor at lvl 50, the Kyrians would unlock a special racial at the lvl 50 just like the dracthyr now have a racial that allow them to fly, they would be able to grow wings (as animation) and then soar.
That would be so cool!
They won’t add new races in from old content, especially not Shadowlands, which they’d like everybody to forget was ever part of the game. I think it would be bad for the game to lock races behind completing an entire expansion of content, especially since often some of that content becomes later unavailable.
Imagine yourself a new player. You go to roll your first character, and the majority of races are greyed out. A lot of potential players are just going to stop right there.
I think this is no longer how they view the unlockment of allied races, as we can see with the future Earthen and also how they removed such restrictions from the BFA allied races.
In my opinion, they can always add races from old content, they just need to add them in the plot.
Like for example, technically, the Earthen are from Vanilla, but you unlock them in TWW which is new content.
They can always make a quest from expacs in the future that would ask us to go in the Shadowlands or have interractions with the Shadowlands races again, they did it in DF when we do go in the Shadowlands in the quest related to Ysera.
