I’m all for more playable races, and Emerril you’ve mad skills at character design! More please!
However…
All Covenant “races” belong to the Shadowlands, so how does it make sense lore-wise for any of them to be outside the realm of the dead and thus playable?
It feels game-breaking from a story perspective, and the story is already at an all time low.
Do some mock-ups of Dragons and their mortal forms! Especially if each flight’s unique mortal form is either a new race… or a twist on an existing one…

True the covenant races come from the Shadowlands, however there have been multiple instances where different races have came to our realm. I don’t really think it’s game-breaking at all at this point, even for the story.
We still have another patch for this expansion after 9.2. There’s a possibility we could see more story (and should) involving the covenants. At this time their stories seem incomplete. There is the possibility that the covenants could provide us with some members to help protect the Shadowlands from future threats, especially when considering some of their problems came from our realm. I think completely cutting off the story after Shadowlands would be a mistake, and I know not everyone agrees with that.

Here’s another hairstyle I’ve created for the male Sylvar. This one has a wild/rocker kind of look. Liked the idea of two-toned hair and tried to go for a hawk with a tail.

The covenant races would probably work best if they were all nuetral imo. With the crossfaction stuff going on in the .5 patch.
The shadowlands races also have souls from both alliance and horde. So it would make sense if they were all nuetral. It would be nice if choosing them you got to choose your like Azeroth soul and can do a little back story for them. For like Kyrian you see both horde and alliance souls there.
If they ever do class skins based on covenant halls we may get stuff like playable undead( or actually dead) paladins through something like the kyrian race which I would love. Kyrian magics with the paladin shield and playstyle would be fun. And using death magic instead of holy magic I think would be cool. I always wanted an angel race.
I would love to play the gargoyles too, and the owlkin things. The faun and vorkals would also be nice.
Blizz could pull a positive if they made some of those models playable. The venthyr model also has a cool riding animation. You get transformed into one while questing in Revendreth and it feels nice.

I’d love to see some of Shadowlands races playable.
I could personally see the Shadowlands races becoming involved with Azeroth and the realm of the living with at least a couple scenarios.
One to help repair all of the damage the Lich King and the Jailor have done on Azeroth with Hordes of Undead that could be a threat to the rest of Azeroth.
Another to deal with the Void should it grow into a larger threat as it’s invaded at least 2 of the realms of the dead being Bastion and Maldraxxus.

Those scenarios would work really well, and could even a combination of both. I also think helping repair damage to both Azeroth and the Shadowlands along with protecting the realms is the most likely reason if the covenant races become playable.
I hope they do, but we will see.

Just created a series of hair accessories for the female Sylvar. I decided to do this since I’ll be creating facial hair for the males, and I wanted the females to have some extra options too. The plants I used are found around Ardenweald.
