Playable Covenant Races

Some more Kyrian fan art concepts.

Really like the contrast in the two tone hair of this one. Could provide some really cool looks in different hairstyles

OK but that two tone haircolor…

I need that.

Here are a couple more Venthyr fan art concepts

Imagine if playable Venthyr had an ability like this!

I haven’t had a chance to create more customization options lately, but I will try to do some soon.

If Sylvar were Druids I would never change whatever faction or race ever again.

I had heard of the best idea for the Shadow lands allied race. They made the point that these races have no connection to Azeroth, so the traditional allied race wouldn’t work, however, the playable character, after getting the necessary rep, and covenant standing, would become the Shadow lands allied race. This would work, because the character is from Azeroth, and would have a connection with it.

They were originally going to do that with Death Knights.

Unless they’re making a copy of the toon I don’t think I’d personally want to level all the way up just to abandon my previous race. Seems like a lot of work.

Rather be able to access it from the character start… y’know?

Yeah that theory of permanent soul shaping into one of the covenant races has been circulating around, and I think it’s a method that would work.
The only downside to that though, As Fenelon mentioned, some aren’t fans of the idea of investing all that time into leveling a character only to swap it for something else.

I’m not sure this is entirely accurate. We can already play multiple races that aren’t from Azeroth, and a couple are traditional allied races. On top of that, on World of Warcraft’s official site, the Denizens of Azeroth are described as:

“Azeroth is home to a large variety of races, some native to its lands and some hailing from other realms. Whether as a stalwart defender of the Alliance or a fierce guardian of the Horde, deciding which race to play will define who you’ll fight for in this neverending war. Where do your loyalties lie?”

That quote specifically states “from other realms”, which is a broad statement that may encompass multiple meanings. Shadowlands is a realm. I think Blizzard specifically worded this description of races to leave it open for the possibility of including any considerable race.

Here’s another hairstyle in hopes of the Sylvar becoming a playable race. I wanted to create a long and full hairstyle, so this is what I came up with.

OK, that is now my favorite.

You’re good at this.

Oh thanks! I’m going to play around with the male sylvar next.

The concepts are pretty, but I’ll be honest on the fact I really wanna never see the Covenants come to fruition. Infact I’d like to continue pretending that they never existed along with Shadowlands. I’d love them as a character design in of itself, but maybe if the lore behind some of the Covenants wasn’t so awful.

Dragons & San’layn? I can get behind that though.

We may not agree on the covenant races becoming playable, but I still want to thank you.

I also think these are great additions. San’layn would be so easy to implement it’s sad. As for dragons, if the rumors are true and they become a playable race, I hope that includes all 5 of the flights and not just one. Including more than one color palette should not be difficult by any means, and I will be disappointed if they miss that mark.

I specifically created this character years ago to appear as if she’s a member of the emerald dragonflight; hence my name and guild. My transmog outfit is off at the moment, but the general look is still there until i update the gear on this character.

Here’s what I have so far of the male Sylvar options:

The first row of eyes are the in-game defaults: below those are some I’ve created. The first face option is the in-game default; I created the ones below.

More to come soon.

Love it. Just like with the female ones the muted colors are so nice and yet easy to see.

And the faces are an amazing upgrade!

Love it cannot wait to see more.

I think the Sylvar are the Covenant race I’d be most likely to play. (I’d have at least one of each though).

Thank you!

I couldn’t agree more! I started with the Sylvar because they’re my favorite. After I finish with the male I’m going to do the Venthyr next. I think beautifying the female Venthyr face may be a bit more challenging.

I think the Kyrian are my second most likely to play of the Covenant races.

Though I’d probably only play a Forsworn one.

I love the Venthyr aesthetics… Not so interested in their physical looks. Not against it though…

Not even sure where to start with the Maldraxxi… Blizzard could go nuts with them.

I agree with the Maldraxxi/Necrolords. I’m really not sure where to go with those. Either straight up skeletons, which would be cool, or the gladiators. There’s not a lot of fan art around either of them, so I’m not sure if they just aren’t as popular as the other 3. My guess is they aren’t, but hard to tell.

I think like you and I most folk are just unsure which ones to really go with…

Also they’re all obviously dead… which might squick some folk.

I’d bet that Blizz will use the Gladiator ones as they’d be the “easy route”, but I could see so much potential in a few body options…

I do know the culture of the Maldraxxi seems quite popular if their people are not.

I’d like to rephase ; It’s not that I don’t want to see covenant races playable. I love the appearances of the races. I hate the lore behind those races. Mostly because the lore for them has been kind of facepalm. Especially if you take a look at the Kyrian when concerning around mistakes. It’s more on a lore standpoint I don’t want them. Though for all the effort you’ve put into this. I hope they add them.

Kyrian & Venthyr in my opinion are the most likely to be added since they are fully-fledged models that don’t have such objections to gear. Maldraxxi on the other hand – it depends. If we get skeletons I’d love it. Sylvar are very lovely and I’d love to make my dream Nymph.

Alternatively Dryads would also be a lovely addition.

San’layn truly would be the easiest to add, they’d also be great for so many customizations, but unfortunately they don’t want to add ‘more’ elves yet from my understanding. Which is unfortunate, even though technically they are Undead Vampiric Elves.

Green Dragonflight is probably one of my favorites and I thought of doing a Dragonkin of late myself.

think for the vent we should get the stone born

both male and female look so cool. sure amour will be a pain in the butt to put on, but we already have massive clipping already with most classes (ears, tusks, horns, eyebrows, etc)
