I know we’re not going for realism here but a legs-folded Centaur or coiled Naga would be absurdly heavy.
Now rebel Nagas who reclaimed their elf form and turn into sea snakes in combat… would really fill the much-needed slot of sea elves. There just aren’t enough elves in WoW – you typically introduce sea elves before crack smoking and goth elves.

To be honest I’m not convinced of that anymore. I would have been, before Dracthyr.
Granted, dracthyr are bipedal. But the issue with non bipedal races was always that gear is going to be a bit weird. I’m no programmer, but trying to put pants on a naga or a centaur would not be a good time for the game engine I’d imagine xD
But Dracthyr can display next to none of the in-game armour pieces, whatsoever. Mechagnomes are in a similar, albeit less severe, boat. And people are more than happy to play them, especially the Dracthyr.
This gives me hope for playable naga. I think they could and should even have a night elf illusion form - that’d be a lot of fun. But let us gear their upper bodies, while giving customisation options for “armour” on the tail. That’d be pretty cool. I don’t really have strong feelings either way about playable centaur, but the same logic applies.
Anyway, point is I don’t think it’s impossible. Or even necessarily unlikely.
I kinda want their official name to be Fish’dorei, just for the fun of it.

Non-bipedal races are a big challenge. Pre-Shadowlands, Blizzard had no reason to try them.
But this is the new Blizzard. This is the Blizzard rocked by scandal, failure and abysmal management. WoW is ancient and dying. It struggles to maintain interest. They’ve had to break every emergency glass they had and they’re not done yet.

It always disheartens me that giving players what they want, ask, and beg for is seen as breaking emergency glass.
What if its just Blizz, actually thinking and looking into pleasing the player base? Is that too impossible?

Of course it’s not impossible.
The reality however is that they spent nearly 20 years telling us they know better than we do, what we want. Literally.
So many times I heard…You think you want that, but you don’t.
These are things we asked for starting nearly 20 years ago.
Narrator: Blizz in fact, did not always know better than the player base what the player base wants.
I would love to have the optimism that they just want to please us out of the goodness of their hearts. I do not. They are pleasing us, because too many of us have left and they need to do something to stop the rest of us from leaving as well.
Maybe had they listened a little more over the years…
That said, I am glad the glass is breaking or they’re pleasing us or whatever. Just give me the things we’ve all been asking for. IDGAF about the motive. They are a company and companies exist to make money. I’m an adult. I’m fine with this being a business transaction between the two of us.

I stopped reading here.
Now I won’t claim to be the biggest snoop of every bit and piece from every blue that’s ever said anything on this forum. But I can with almost 100% certainty bet some gold or straight cash swear that they have never said or suggested that they wanted to give us playable naga.
