Playable Blood Elves Don't Represent Quel'Thalas

Silvermoon should be returned to the Alliance. The Horde destroyed our Elven city …

As I recall, Silvermoon was both never stolen from the Alliance there’s nothing to return and was actively spied upon and attacked by the Alliance.

This is only your opinion. Not the truth. ^^ <<< the Lore

That was the Scourge.

More head cannon. Silvermoon NEVER ‘belonged’ to the Alliance. They were reluctant allies for a short time then got the hell out of there. So nothing to ‘give back’ to the Alliance. Know your lore before claiming your head cannon to be real lore.

On a serious note (a risk in this thread, I know) the Alliance and Quel’Thalas have never really been best friends. The only times they have aligned is when something threatened both of them. The humans helped the elves in the troll wars because the humans knew they were next, the elves helped the humans because they owed them one and knew the horde would get them next, and then they promptly left the alliance once the danger had passed. The elves that actually enjoyed the Alliance are a vast minority, and I expect the feeling is mutual lol.

While all that is true, it does still make it a bit weird that now they’re like a 100% pro Horde after only, what has it been 5 years in Lore time? They fought with and were apart of the Alliance (prior to becoming Blood Elves) waaaaaay longer, yet always kept this “distance”. But as soon as they join the Horde after 5 years they’re like 100% pro Horde champions that love every race. Kind of weird.

I don’t think they really can keep their distance anymore. Before Arthas they were much more formidable and could afford to stand on their own because who needs allies when your kingdom is unassailable (or so they thought). I like to think they finally learned their lesson after Arthas and that’s why they take a more active role in the Horde than they did in the Alliance.

It would only be weird if you had preconceived notions while being unable to see passed them.

Say what you will about High Elves - Blood Elves served the Alliance for way less time than they served the Horde. Blood Elves were a creation of Prince Kaelthas. Named in honor of fallen High Elves.

The moniker of Blood Elf has a very clear history.

They are the same race according to Ion.

There were no Blood Elves before Arthas attacked Quelthalas. The Blood Elves were created in honor of the fallen.

Blood Elves served the Horde longer than they served the Alliance. So your confusion is based on your willful ignorance.

They are the people of Quel’thalas lol

90% of the High Elves died. Kaelthas, the legitimate heir and leader, named most of the rest Blood Elves.

The newly christened Blood Elves membership in the Alliance was dominated by Garithos.

The Blood Elves spent more time in the Horde than the Alliance. That is simple enough.

Btw this was my original comment. :slightly_smiling_face: Happy to help, Cursewords.

As I said, your willful ignorance is the root of your confusion.

It is only weird of you conflate the Blood Elves with the High Elves before them.

There is a difference.

Sylvanas is a High Elf who died in defense of Quelthalas. Sylvanas was not a Blood Elf or Sindorei.

The Sindorei, being named after those who fell in defense of Quelthalas, like Sylvanas, represent the Warchief of the Horde more so than anything Alliance.

And for a longer amount of time.

And your nitpicking and deliberate misreadings of what I say is the root of your trolling. Good day, sir.

It’s not stated often enough, but Void Elves are pretty much the Kael’thas elves now considering they far more closely resemble the Blood Mage fantasy of tapping into dark and forbidden magics that make their allies wary of them. Yeah, Blood Elves possess way more of the potential aesthetic of the Blood Mage archetype, but rarely is that ever played up as their top representatives is a Ranger General and a golden holy elf hero now. They are just basically back to being High Elves in everything but name.

It’s also unpopular to say, but I also feel part of that edge Blood Mages had was somewhat lost by removing them away from the Alliance, because I think that cool edge factor is more noticeable when you have allies that are rather wary or put off by your methods, yet still tolerate you for pragmatic reasons. At this rate I start to think treating Void Elves like the classic TFT Blood Elves, minus the whole Garithos nonsense, would be a great thing to do for the faction again.
