It just came to me, as to why it makes sense for Blood Elves to have joined the Horde. Because they’re not the same faction that was ruled by Anasterian!
The Blood Elves that we know now are just a rebellious pirate group that overthrew their governement after Kael’thas went to Outland and joined Illidan. Hence why the Horde’s Blood Elves have no quarrel, and are in fact joyful, with just rushing into Outland to murder their Prince, as soon as possible.
That’s why Alleria is so adament about retaking Silvermoon City. Silvermoon City is currently being ran by a false government, pretending to represent their once great Thalassian Empire.
So I guess Alleria is the true de facto leader of Silvermoon’s remaining government? It could also be Vereesa, of course, but it makes sense for her to be happy with her older sister bearing the title.
With all this in mind, it actually makes me wanna roll a Void Elf. The lore aesthetic of trying to retake your home from pretenders and traitors is very appealing to me. It’s similar to the Human and Forsaken relationship. Except in this scenario, the Ren’dorei turned to darker magics to help them retake their home, and the Blood Elves attempt to give off the idea that they have a moral high ground, by using the Light.
Also, this makes me want to play WC3 and maybe some Kael’thas in HotS.
Thinking about it: I’m worried that this post will upset a few Horde loyalist Blood Elf players. But they would only be upset because the post is accurate and makes sense, but goes against their imagined and desired lore.
Alleria had mentioned somewhere in the War Campaign (I think she was speaking to Umbric, I don’t recall precisely when) that she believes Silvermoon will one day again be in the hands of the Alliance.
I’m wondering if there is any truth to that, or if it’s a false void whisper.
On the WC3: TFT campaign list, it clearly states that the “Curse of the Blood Elves”, you know, the one that you play as Kael’thas, is an Alliance campaign. Don’t believe me? Check yourself.
I’ll take the bait. Yes, you’re right the Blood Elves were in the Alliance, and Garithos screwed that up. Now these pretenders on our prince’s throne murdered one of the few Sunstrider cousins to take felo’melorn and on the pretense of giving it to the Kirin Tor. Why is that? To silence our voices! The Alliance proponents are being brainwashed in Silvermoon. Go, LOOK! They’re silencing dissenters… But the Alliance will prevail!
The Ren’dorei and the Quel’dorei exiles are working together to make the Alliance Great Again! Silvermoon will once again fly our banners! As our numbers grow it will be inevitable that Silvermoon shall return to us.
Kael’thas ignored orders under martial law and went AWOL to conspire with the Naga. Garithos did nothing wrong, and in fact, a dead Kael would’ve saved us a lot of trouble later on.
Naga are the good guys. Azshara is the rightful queen of Azeroth and she has done nothing wrong in her life ever. Therefore Kael is a good guy as well.
The Void Elves are Blood Elves. If they weren’t banished they would still be Blood Elves. The only reason they’re on the Alliance is because they had nowhere else to go, and they feel loyalty to Alleria for saving them from becoming Void creatures.
The only difference between High Elves on the Alliance and Blood Elves on the Horde is the colour of armor they wear. Even the different eye colour is going to be moot, since both will have golden eyes soon. A golden eyed Blood Elf could walk right down the street in Stormwind and no one would know the difference.
Honestly, the fact that Void Elves are so trusted right out of the gate showcases that apparently the Alliance doesn’t have nearly as much issue with the Sin’dorei as some people here like to claim…
