Fun tax, Blizz can’t help themselves.
Seems like a good first draft! I can’t imagine what all needs to be untangled in that code base after 2 decades to make stuff like this even kind of feasible, so I’m not surprised there are some caveats with this first go.
As a software engineer myself, the more I think about all of the stuff like DB modeling that has been built around the 2 factions the more deeply glad I am that I’m not the one attempting to do this. I’d probably try doing something jank like silently adding guild members to a 3rd, guild unique faction just to try to avoid untangling the existing mess.
i love when blizzard puts out ‘early access’ content what i mean by that is they shove things thats clearly not finished yet, such as this so now we must wait until the end of several expansions for it to be done . its way more work that it needs to be to guild up too. maybe if they stopped firin everyone u can have more hands on deck since u clearly have none for classic either lol
Well I for one am looking forward to killing my guild leader outside the raid. Finally a good reason for war mode.
Would love more info on if they are gonna be including cross faction random dungeon and bg ques
Of if its even planned for a later date
They announced the player opposite faction from the guild leader will not be able to help or use all the guild features. On top of this they cannot do world content together (faction baised quests is understandable, but everything else like killing world bosses or non-faction baisef quests should be avle to play together)
They also cannot que together in random bg’s and random dungeons, this hurts lvling casual guilds.
Even pvp guilds may not be able to use this feature either if they cannot que for rated pvp content (this is not confirmed yet, but last i checked, you cannot que for even arena’s with opposing faction members)
This is half baked, and obviously either not ready, or purposely done thus way to hurt those who wanted this feature to play with friends. World first guilds will still be single faction only the way things looks atm.
You cannot do que content with opposite faction members.
I feel the opposite. WF Guilds wil be using the feature more than anyone I feel to min max Racials.
Correct me if Im wrong but you can already do cross faction world content, the custom group finder is cross faction so this isnt actually an issue once you group up.
You cannot heal opposite faction party members or get tag counts in party cross faction world content.
Last i heard you can even attack your own party members in world pvp even.
Not if they are unable to trade they won’t. Furtunatly they can use the GBank still in this iteration of ptr, but that can change.
They can trade. You can already trade cross faction inside the Raid currently and that started back in Shadowlands.
The only limitations are in the open world and being unable to group up for LFD content.
Loot only if i am correct. Which means little unless the opposite faction member already paid for their own enchant vallums/gems to slot. (Meaning they do not get guild support for it.)
Since all members of the Guild will have access to the Guild Bank in 10.1 why do you think Blizz wouldn’t also allow them to trade with each other in an instance?
Worst case scenario is the Guild Enchanters, Alchemists, etc just put stuff in the Guild bank like they already do for all players to have access no matter their Faction.
That’s not what was said.
That’s been an issue for a long time and has nothing to do with people playing an Elf. It has everything to do with the pool of talent moving to play the larger pool of talent. lol wow.
Jokes on you, all my friends left the game and didn’t come back
Dude I feel you. I live the same issue! I am the last holdout of my friend group that played since BC.
You’re allowed to make more friends.
Atm.
The same reason they don’t let them trade normally outside the instance. Also if you can trade non-loot otems in the instance you can pretty much exploit the faction trade barrier, which honestly should be taken down anyways. smh
Worst case is if they lock guild bank for non-main faction members to prevent exploit trades if they still intend to not let the factions trade.
I think the fact that they announced and are pushing the feature out without having figured it out ahead of time is kind of garbage personally. It’s just going to make a bunch of people upset and it kind of screws casual guilds who won’t even necessarily know that they can’t queue with friends in their guild.
There’s no way Blizz didn’t know this would be a problem. So with that being said it definitely annoys me that they’re pushing the, as far as I’m aware, incomplete feature to live.
Hopefully they fix it ASAP because it’s got a lot of feelsbad as-is. (I agree it’s childish to think they’re screwing people on purpose. that’s not what’s happening here)
Any competent company won’t release a product incomplete.
This is intended, fully and completely.
it’s a problem for heroics, timewalking, and lfr which are a HUGE deal to more casual guilds… who this is definitely a huge feature for or would be if they could fix the queuing issue.
It’s even really annoying for my guild because we’d like to timewalk and be able to do queued content together, especially on alts… they really need to fix/change this problem ASAP. It’s an incomplete feature without queued content.
