Shouldnt take 20 minutes and clicking on the play button a dozen times to get into the game.

It dosent. If it dose for you that is called a client side issue you need to address and the first step to that is to see the issue as it is a issue on your end not to go and project it as a blizzard issue or a widespread issue.
After thab go and seek help in the proper spot tip there is a reaosn tech support exists.

Sometimes the game launched instantly and everything’s fine.
Sometime it can take several minutes for the game to start, and I have absolutely no idea what causes this. Apparently it’s not a rare niche thing, it happens to quite a few people.
This happens to me sometimes. Usually it loads immediately, but if I’m already late for raid then I have to wait several minutes for the game to start up.

Exit the bnet client completely and relaunch bnet. Then the play button will work again.
