They’re obviously just going to use layers to alleviate that, so who cares. It’s a non issue. Next SoM it should just be one pve server and one pvp server.
About a month too late. I’ve already unsubbed and haven’t played my toon for about 3 weeks over this issue.
At this point, even with transfers, I won’t be returning.
Be faster and more decisive next time.
This is the best way to make SoM survive to Naxx with how low the population is at the moment. All these other servers are going to have trouble keeping guilds together to raid and do other content either sooner or later.

If Blizz is considering free transfers from all PVP realms to Jom, that tells me that the low pop realms, including Barman, are far too low to be sustainable.
I think allowing all PVP xfers to Jom is a good idea. The people on Barman can still stay there and rank if they want.

The safest bet is to essentially merge all like-typed servers into one and let layering handle the influx.

I’m really torn on this. Barman has a lot going for it and I would be interested in seeing what it would look like if they were to let people transfer here. At the same time, we all know that the SoM population is going to decrease monotonically as the year goes on (especially when AQ comes out). Anyone who wants to clear Naxx has to accept that the best chance of that happening is if we all congregate on Jom.
It is kinda pathetic to see all the Barman NEETS flaming people on both sides. Just because you can play 14 hours a day doesn’t make you better than anyone else.

Hi there!
I lvl up in Barman Shanker, had 2 characters in there mids 40, but the server was too small 
was hard to find common thing on the AH. So quit my server and will came back if I can server transfer to a big server probably.
I think only one server type for each region would been a great idea.
Now focus on the HC challenge, is a greater a very active community.

it literally says in the post “Free character transfers” its giving you the option to transfer.
Barman is a pve server at this point and the vocal minority of players there don’t want to leave because they enjoy their cozy little sandbox server where they can farm anything they want, whenever they want in the open world and don’t have to worry about playing the actual game and competing for resources and getting to dungeons without pvping. It’s quite literally the opposite of what a pvp server is about but if that’s how they want to play, that’s fine, they can stay on their dead realm. Don’t ruin this for the rest of us that want to leave dead servers like Barman. Jom is the only option.

How long does this remain open for and how many chars can we transfer?
Our guild talked about this for a bit last night after our raid and it sounds like we’ll be transferring from Obsidian Edge to Shadowstrike (PVE). Obsidian only has about 4 raiding guilds and we’re one of the top ones. I asked a friend from another raiding guild and it sounds like they’ll be transferring to. I’m pretty sure besides maybe 1 of the top guilds, everyone else will leave to Shadowstrike and I’m not sure how long any remaining guild will survive there. I won’t be surprised if Blizzard just forces everyone from there to Shadowstrike at some point.
I’m kind of looking forward to the move this week as I was going to level another 2-3 alts during this season starting next week and taking advantage of the 100% exp bonus going on. It’ll be fun finding grps easier to do 5mans with. On the downside, I’m sure I will have to say goodbye to some of the farms I was doing for epic mount money as more population = more competition. But having more options on the AH is a good trade off I guess. Oh and it kind of sucks that I’ll be playing on a server that is based on the U.S. East time instead of West, oh well.
Oh and a bunch of guildies are super sad that they’ll be losing their character name due to the transfer. I can understand this as they don’t really have much of a choice about leaving the server unless they want to see if another guild is staying that they would enjoy and find a spot in their raid group.

Character map letters for name changes. Someone on JOM took Kirk, so that’s the route im going.
Also, different time zones sucks, but I’m sticking with my guild from NF, which will continue to raid west coast times. As long as you stick with your OE community, you should be good on the time zone thing.

On jom like 80-90% of my auctions sell if they are put up to undercut. It’s awesome. There are times when my bank alt is just empty because it’s all selling. Who the duck is buying blue sapphires for 12g each lol

I was on there last night after midnight on a lvl 1 character and definitely noticed a much higher population (even at that time of day) and more AH options so I’m looking forward to that. How is the factions there? Is it mainly Alliance or Horde? I know that doesn’t matter for world pvp since it’s a pve server, but curious for other reasons like some gold farms, world boss competition, etc. I 'm coming from a server with what seems like 90%+ Alliance so we don’t have to worry about any Horde guilds fighting over world bosses for example.

There are bots watching the jom ah. I put ele fires up for 4g a few days ago and watched all of them instasell AS I POSTED THEM. I undercut by 30s and made 80g in 15 seconds. All sold to the same dude who reposted them with a buyout 1c under the price I undercut.
People selling them for 100g at Naxx release, tbh.
