Aye, English can be tricky. That’s why we use context to understand things.
Too/two/to and we’re/were are enough to trip up many people, and those words are actually spelled differently and have different meanings. Shoot, “we’re” and “were” aren’t even pronounced the same.
When the word actually doesn’t change spelling (“globally”), yet has different meanings in different contexts, the responsibility is on the reader to determine what that meaning actually is (assuming the author used proper English and correct grammar.)
Global changes I make to my (buggy) little addon pack that I write in Lua certainly don’t apply to the entire actual globe of Earth. In the same way, the “global cooldown” has nothing to do with a planet. Globally vs. globally.
And now, in that curious way, “globally” sounds less like a real word.
