I’ll gladly take a pirate expansion over light vs void or old gods vs titans. Blizzard does a terrible job with cosmic level stories.
I don’t wanna hate purple the way legion made me hate green.
Plus, it’s perfect for adding more Kul’tiran customizations. Not that they need an excuse, they just need to do it already.

Yeah I thought bfa already was the tropical pirate expansion everyone is talking about.
Pirates weren’t the reason BFA failed.

Whatever the new expac, I just want to be happy.
They may have been a higher point of it actually.
Its not quite the magic booty bay had to break up the boring slog STV is (imo). It was interesting at times though.

I didn’t love BfA but I did like it way more than Systemlands and somewhat more than DF. I’ve already taken several breaks in DF but I took none in BfA.

It’s not going to be an actual Pirate expansion .
I do believe we will finally meet Captain Nightsquall and go to the other side of Azeroth to Aveloren and face the 5th old god. I think DF and the next expansion are building us up for the next cosmic fight against the Void in 12.0
Pirate theme (Or some kind of new world place) may mean we’ll continue seeing Blizzard introducing more unique permanent mechanics to the game. Boat customization and traversal ocean faring anyone? That’d be sick as hell. Would also be a good excuse to redesign how swimming works (for ocean exploring, if that becomes a thing), or at least the combat underwater vs above (Or disabling it like FFXIV).
That alone would sell me on the expansion. This, of course, comes unsurprisingly from a biased Demon Hunter main. Flappy double jump 'n glides, dash mid-air and flippies trigger my dopamine receptors.

Most everything is pointing to a showdown with the 5th lost Old God. On an as of yet uncovered continent on the other side of the planet, which the night elf pirate The Nightsquall recently discovered.
Really looking forward to the “Flat Azerother” jokes

Island expeditions feel kind of like Torghast, in that more should have been done with them.
Either way, I think a pirate expansion couldn’t work by itself. It’s not big enough and it’s not grand enough. So, realistically the pirate stuff would need to be a lead in into something else.
If Blizzard wanted to expand the size of Azeroth then exploring across the seas and encountering pirates could be a thing.
The two leading theories for the next expansion are pirates and the void, and they don’t mesh super well.
BFA, a nautically themed expansion, with almost no water based content. The boats just sat in harbor for two years. I don’t see any reason to believe they could do a pirate expansion well.

Maybe not a pirate expansion, but I do believe the pirates will be the new version of the Dragonscale Expedition. So the starting zone might be like a new Booty Bay.
