Pirate RP suggestion

Whats good guys how yall doing? Ive been searching for a sailor/pirate type guild here on the forums but couldnt find any and said freak it ill create my own rp lol.
I’m thinking about starting some type of sailor/pirate type group but i want to develop our characters from the beginning. I dont want to rp some bad asss well known pirate or something, i want to start from a small group of friends from a city (boralus seems like the perfect setting but we can decide whatever together) who are saving up cash to buy a small ship to set sail… you know where im getting at. From there we can start sailing and make a name for ourselves through IC interactions with mostly REAL people and become known as pirates. What I’m trying to say is that everything will happen through development and we aint just gonna pull stuff out of our ases haha
Anyways, what you guys think about this?

edit: I forgot to mention this but I’m a human, which means that I’ll have to start in an Alliance territory. Obviously I wont be able to rp with horde players but once we reach the stage where we have a good ship and a crew i dont see pirates discriminating just because of a faction, so once we start sailing in horde kingdoms we are up for rp and possibility to join the crew. Ideally we start from humans and begin diversifying our crew as we grow stronger, remember pirates dont discriminate!

I love the idea, but here’s some constructive thought, just my opinion.
From what I’ve noticed a lot of pirate themed guilds or players don’t always do so well (this is not always the case and has significantly changed since Cata), I think that you could find a good set of people to start some pirate RP, and if they’re equally talented with their RP skills, I’m sure you would easily be able to invite more to the table, given you’re willing to offer great content, events, and fully commit to being a pirate. If you can truly do that, than by all means mate I implore you to go for it!
What I have seen from some of the most common pirate guilds or RP is that they tend to be newer roleplayers, or roleplaying with great intention, but have the inability to actual commit to lore. If you can change that perception, I by all means welcome you to do so. We need avid roleplayers that can help newer players, and yet offer something newer to the table, because often times people get bored with the more prevalent form of RP, especially dawned around the WOTLK Cathedral Light Based RP Era.
So I implore you and would love to see some newer forms of RP by you, if you can commit to it.

This. I have interacted with a swath of pirate roleplayers in my time here on Moon Guard. An overall majority of them don the “Billy Badass” Errol Flynn archetype, openly talk about piracy in character, and escape guard confrontation with a smoke grenade and a pair of swift feet.

Rarely, if ever, I see someone RPing a pirate right, no blatantly obvious “HEY GUYS I MAY OR MAY NOT BE A PIRATE BASED ON MY CLOTHES RP TO FIND OUT” transmog, no guttural pirate speak, or hell even the godmodding roleplay.

You mean the lore created by the guild? Or the basic framework of this mmo? Because the later can be bent to suit. It is quite pliable.

You mean “the way I believe you should do it”? Because the way they enjoy what they are doing is the right way.

OP - if I had more time to devote to a guild I would attempt to assist. Enjoy and may there be much excellent booty for all. :pirate_flag:

Although I’ve been rping for a long time in other games, I admittedly am new to WOW and my knowledge about the lore is limited. I do like reading and I am learning new stuff everyday, but wow’s rich lore is something that takes time to fully understand. That’s why I’d really appreciate if some experienced rpers who are interested in this kind of roleplay can help make this happen. I don’t plan on leading a guild or anything, I just want to experience a sailor roleplay with character development and I don’t mind being tutored by someone experienced willing to lead the group. I am pretty creative and can can help with ideas depending on the suggestions from those who are interested. Ideally, I think at least 3-4 people are needed to start rping as aspiring sailors to begin with the story and development.

I know someone who this would fit perfectly for! She’s a friend of mine but she’s not on the forums. I saw this however and wanted to reach out. She’s not really a pirate type but more like a sailor who has been kind of down on her luck. Definitely nothing heroic there lol I am just wondering if you have some level requirement? We have done roleplay with our characters outside of the game so the character has started some development, but just recently made in-game and leveling up.

Is there a Discord contact or maybe something in-game she can connect with if this sounds okay? I’m going to link her to this thead also ^^

This actually sounds interesting because like I stated above, I don’t plan on RPing as a pirate from the beginning. The fact that she’s a struggling sailor is definitely a good spot to be at to start developing further realistically.

Hit me up on discord Casa#1060. I don’t have any level requirements, the main purpose is RP and fun so anyone can join the group. If you have any other friends who are into this kind of RP, feel free to invite them too.

This has actually become part of the generic “I want to be the best criminal rper” archtype of roleplayer.
Or the I’m a Warlock with my demon out in the middle of Stormwind, loot at me I’m summoning it in the Cathedral District, yet I won’t conform to any laws, and “You guys have no powah here!”
Its important to stay away from generalization archtypes, especially if its overdone like the “Draenei Exaarch of the Holy Light.” You don’t even know how many Exaarchs I see. Do something unique, different, don’t always try to pin point to the top, be a sergeant, and roleplay it in a formidable manner. It will garnish you the roleplay you want to achieve.

You can roleplay how you wanna roleplay, but if your guild is making a “I am the King/Queen of Lordaeron” or if your guild is stating the “I am Sargeras,” or your guild states that they “created the Old Gods and have strong relations to Thralls son” kind of lore, with hopes on the intention that the wide community will accept it as canon lore, than you’re sadly mistaken-but please do not take me as an individual that will blantantly attack those that roleplay on their own accord, with their own lore & story. I personally advise against roleplay elitism, and will happily accept newer roleplayers and their weird lore ‘on the side’ (meaning I won’t implement it into the general populace, and what is deemed as absolute lore).

Mind you the guild I lead does not play on MoonGuard, but I am happy to invite you to our Discord. We have a loreguide player that has recently started making YT videos due to his great talent on expressing lore stories. I’m happy to introduce you to him so you and him can talk about lore, so that he may teach you more about it.

One of the biggest points I want to make is, if you’re roleplaying a criminal, do as you would do in real life-don’t intentionally go out of your way to be “I’m a pirate, I’m a criminal.” Don’t wave your hand around with hopes that you’ll get intention, rather create a unique, daring, and engaging environment that will draw that attention naturally to your side.

Do you have any friends that would assist you with it?

There really isn’t a roleplay ‘requirement’ for roleplayers, though I do advise lvl 10+ to join most guilds, as most guilds will naturally jump to the assumption of “That’s a level one troll.”
15-20 would actually be best before finding a new guild. But it always depends on the person.

You can also link her up with me, if she has any questions I can help her out: Kornbredkhan#1337 (My Discord)

Yeah, I get what you mean bro. Although I haven’t really rped a sailor before, I do have a lot of experience in criminal rp. I don’t plan on showcasing the stereotypical dumb representation of piracy. I’m not even sure if we will consider ourselves pirates IC, because we will be sailors before anything else. The criminal side of the things will depend on IC situations, don’t worry tho I ain’t gonna play dumb haha

Nah, I’m actually new here and don’t know many people. That’s why someone good with wow lore will be greatly appreciated

Thank you for being different.

Add me on Discord fam and I’ll get you set up, I’m sure we can find some quality rpers to help you out too. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi, I’m interested in joining. I’ve done a little sailor RP, but not in WoW. I’m by no means an expert though. I sent you a friend request on Discord. mournthewicked#2309

Someone said Pirate RP?

I won’t be joining any guilds, but Dloin is more than willing to share his words of wisdom with anybody who might be interested in listening. He’s been on the seas since Vanilla and is always preaching about how a life on the seas puts any other life to shame.

We are still looking for people to join our RP, hit me up on discord (Casa#1060) if you’re interested. I’m not really planning on making this official atm, you can stay in your desired guild while RPing with us. We are only two for now and we’re planning on starting our development in Stormwind. If your character lives nearby and loves sailing this could be his opportunity

Is your friend still interested?

I have spoken to Khaalifa, and I think him and his friends would make a great guild master. He does have a Discord, so if you do contact him you can find out more information about it.
Plus remember there is a lot of room for character development, and the development process of the guild itself.
