It may not be a popular opinion but I’d rather see Tinker as a Gnome/Goblin only class. I don’t think that just because other races have tech, means they should be Tinkers. I’d rather see other potential classes to accommodate that.
And to expand on Tinker, I’d love if Engineering played a large role in the way Tinker unlocks new weapons, upgrades to tech and cosmetic changes to a possible mech suit. It would be amazing if a Tinker learned new skills through engineering schematics.
If you keep asking for a tinker class they’ll probably gut one of the hunter specs and create a whole new class like they did with Warlock. Fingers crossed that it’s survival and not Beast Master.
you can make the argument for bard or tinker, but my vote goes to tinker for a few reasons.
strictly speaking, if you want a buff/debuff bot, thats what a bard within lore is. they use music to empower allies and demoralize enemies. thats very hard to balance in wow unless your going the FF:ARR route. in essence blizz wouldnt be able to get that to work, so they would have to go down the disc priest route and have them be a healer/dps hybrid. blizz also cannot balance between existing class utility between the specs anyway, further adding to blizz being unable to to balance a bard into the current meta of the game.
now a tinker though, thats far easier to implement. mailer wearer, check. ranged weapon user, check. gadgets and robots would be working just like pets and totems. mech suits for dps/tank cooldowns. these are already things in the game. it provides a technological aspect to balance against the magical aspects of this game. we have seen plenty of races utilize technology, from even the dumbest races. i could imagine it now, just like druid forms have a different race based mech suit to showcase there level of competence. from basic scraps of metal plonked onto orcs, to full mechanized suits for goblins and gnomes. hell, if blizz wanted to proper RPG this concept, make it customisable and upgradable. so players can look as lowfi or high tech as they want on any given race.
theres plenty they can pull inspiration from for help to design it if they get stuck. from heimerdinger in LOL all the way up to say engineers in wildstar or GW2 and beyond.
although if this was a personal wishlist type deal, id much prefer a 4th spec for all of the classes. really shake things up. blood/chronomancer healer for mage. magical bow monk. inquisitor for paladins with holy magic. hell, give bards to rogues as a healer/dps hybrid like disc. give dark ranger to hunters and let it be the old dot style survival everyone wants back. D3 style ranged demon hunter. earth warder tank spec for shaman.
theres more design space there for blizz to get wild. but that would require blizz pulling time away from developing borrowed power systems nobody wants and actually focussing on class design for once…
Bard would be nice, but they are inherently a support class (at least coming from dnd) and unless bliz removed a lot of players solo-ability, the bard wouldn’t really have a place unless it just acted like a minstrel from lotro. Which is just another healer, and i"m not against that, it just doesn’t feel like a proper bard at that point to me.
Dark ranger sounds like something 12 yr old me would cringe at for being too edgy. So no not that.
DKs are exactly to necromancers what a battle mage is to a mage. I do think DKs spec too heavily into necromancy and warlocks to heavily into demons that a pure(caster) necromancer class would end up looking like a reskinned demo lock or a plague DK without melee weapons (yikes!) so unless they strip DKs of something there really isn’t room for a true necromancer.
I would rather see bard cause they could play musical toons to buff people, they could be heavy on sleep spells or debuffs, or insight violence with song. The possibilities are varied. And they could use a mace that looks like a ham hock or a wine goblet to wack people that would be fun.
“I don’t like a part of the warcraft universe, so it shouldn’t exist.”

I suggest you never leave your order hall.
Nope. Death Knights in Warcraft 3 were necromancers, they could raise the dead and empower them.
So in Warcraft 3. Death Knights can raise the dead and empower them. It’s literally that simple.
Bards aren’t really part of Warcraft. Tinkers are though.
Tinkers also don’t conflict with existing classes at all.
it’s a simple logical breakdown.
Necromancer: Conflicts with existing classes.
Bards: Not part of the Warcraft universe
Tinker: Neither of those problems.
There are/were Bards/Minstrels in every iteration of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D, AD&D 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3.5, and 4th Editions), as well as LotR, EQII, Dark Age of Camelot, RIFT, FF XI, Aion, Shadowbane…the list goes on.
As for your melodramatically capitalized statement that “those have never been Warcraft”…there any many aspects of the World of Warcraft MMO that weren’t in the original Warcraft single player games. As Garrosh informed Gul’dan…“times change”.
Imagine calling in a bombing run, or an orbital strike. Shooting rockets at a foe. Or putting down a turret to blast the enemy away. Stunning your enemy with an actual stun gun.
Having little explosives that hunt down the enemy and explode. Then hopping into a giant mech with explosive armour that harms melee attackers, shoots saw blades out of one arm and a chainsaw on the other.
Using a flamethrower to burn your enemies or bombs to blow them up. It just seems like a tinker class would be so much fun.
