My friend basically invented that shortly after they started the doritos shells and just asked if they would do it and they did so that’s how we always got them after that.

You’re doing something WAAAAAAAY wrong then. Use Nox. I don’t use it for an authenticator because I’m not using a Nokia 3310, but I do use it when I’m writing apps as a test bench.
You don’t need a contract device to use it. Whatever you tried before, get rid of it, because it sounds like it was trying to phish for information.
You need a contract phone number to set up the Auth. It also has to be one that matches the country on the account. To make it worse, some contract phone plans give out numbers that are flagged as pre-paid so won’t work. Other pre-paid plans have numbers that are flagged as contract and do work. VOIP of course does not work.
So yeah, even if you try using an emulator you will need a phone number to set up SMS protect or you can’t complete set up and can’t make custom group titles in Dungeon and Raid.

MVPs are moldy greens, we don’t work for Blizz and have no moderation powers at all. Nothing. We get the same 5 flags a day as others do. There is nothing I can do about behavior of others on a forum.
You have to adapt to live among them. They give off a certain energy that, if you can learn to virtually metabolize, is life changing. 
I understand that. I was told GD is the official support channel by a green, which I argued is not only fruitless, but annoying. You had commented in that thread, too, about the emulator.
I believed what you said, that the emulator doesn’t work, but then I have to keep saying that to 30 trolls, each individually, then they tell me idk what I’m talking about, then repeat. I’m just getting harassed here with maybe 5 people taking the topic seriously.

CS forum is an Information Desk for folks to ask questions. They can get advice on how services work, how to navigate the ticket system, what policies are, etc. CS does not work with the Devs or relay feedback to them.
Bugs get reported on the Bug Report forum for QA to review, or using the in game tool.
If someone wants to make a Suggestion for change, they would want to post on the most relevant Discussion forum. PvP, Arenas, Class, etc. Or if it is something more generic, GD. You can also use the in-game suggestion tool to suggest a change or provide feedback.
If you were pointed to the GD forum then someone thought you were making a suggestion to change how something works and wanted you to have it in the proper place.
The changes happened in late 2020 and to be honest, most people don’t know about it yet. I have had my keychain auth since 2008. Many others did that or used the phone app before they forced it to be linked to a phone number.
I don’t think they mean harm, I think they just did not know about it. Further, it is kind if illogical in some ways so you would not expect them to make it harder to secure an account.

I get the same, probably more backlash. The difference is, I deserve most of it. I speak the truth, but replying in the same snarky manner I get comments, usually isn’t the best way to move forward.
I generally don’t give much respect green posters or blue check marks on other platforms. They are just the company tagging some people better than others, determined by their own bizarre and biased systems. All voices are equal, just some are more equal. Mirasol has been great from what I’ve seen. She tries to keep to the facts and see both sides.

But thanks for the info. I thought it would be CS related since I was asking for an alternate method for authentication, not to change the game design. The CS forum said is was for posts related to accounts and apps and thought it would be best since I was looking for a a different way to secure my account other than the app.
Also, is the Authenticator App validating your battlenet or wow account? I thought battlenet, so I felt Blizz CS more relevant than WoW GD.
I have a phone number that should work, but my phone isn’t compatible with the app. How do I authenticate without the app so that I can secure my account with multi-factor authentication using my phone number and access the blocked game features now that I’ve verified my identity?

It validates the Bnet account, but the game change you are concerned about is in WoW.
To resolve your issue, they could change the in-game requirement, OR change the current Auth system.
Either lets you play the WoW content you wish to play - custom group titles.
It would be up to the CMs to review the feedback and take it the Devs for decisions, IF they decided to make changes.
They may decide that the inconvenience is acceptable vs limiting the bot spam.
My bigger issue, and has been since late 2020, is that it is now HARDER to set up an Auth on an account due to the phone number requirement. This seems so backwards. I don’t care if the game feature wants both, but not being able to set up an Augh without a contract phone number is less than ideal.

Number. You need a contract phone number in addition to the Auth app in order to set it up on the account now. You also need that number attached to unlock 4 backpack slots and the custom group titles.
This change was put in late 2020.
Running a digital phone number through Amazon web services, Not even a phone carrier, A PHONE carrier is not needed as SMS has been sent via Data for a very long time now.
